Annie was great! They sometimes air it on the Hallmark Channel.
I remember "A Christmas Carol" with kelsey Grammer was very good too!

About a year or so ago I helped my apartment manager clean out storage spaces of stuff that former tenants had left behind. There was a box of VHS tapes that I just picked up and put in my storage. I went down to get the tape of "CATS" (It's coming to Denver and I just wanted a bit of a refresher. I only made it throuh about 20 minutes!) and realized that I had the Cinderella with Brandy. I can remember wanting it but not being able to find it. And, correct me if I am wrong, it was only available for purchase for a short while. So that is on tap to watch this weekend.

I believe the VHS of Cinderella is out of print, but most VHS tapes are out of print these days. The DVD is still readily available.

MAJOR BUMP, but sources are saying that Brandy is going to do "Dancing with the Stars."

I'd love to see her dance on DWTS like she did in that movie.

Speaking of Brandy, Cinderella was on TV recently. I recorded it and always enjoy watching it. Good, cheesy, hilarious fun. And Bernadette<3.

It was actually just on again this afternoon. I can't believe it's been 13 years!

I thought this thread was about the old Armstrong Circle Theater Musicals. I think they also aired on ABC. These had Robert Goulet and Sally Ann Howes in BRIGADOON, Goulet in CAROUSEL, George Chikiris in KISMET and Goulet and Carol Lawrence in KISS ME KATE.

They were vintage television at its best.

With the exception of KISMET, they were all available on black vinyl.

I wonder what Meron & Zadan have on their plate now? They had SEVERAL projects in the planning stages which never came to fruition, including another ABC TV Musical (a remake of PETER PAN).

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I thought they were attached to some big screen musical.

They're attached to SEVERAL projects. Musical projects for stage, TV & film. They're a little over-ambitious. And most of their projects end up in limbo. PETER PAN, however, got a littler farther than most and just didn't happen.

Dollypop- Me too. Got all excited about Armstrong Circle Theatre and then realized there can't be more than a few of us who would remember those. I remember Patricia Neway playing Nettie Fowler. She directed an opera I was in at college. That was a thrill for me. Of the "newer" musicals, all I remember about Music Man, with Broderick, is turning it off.

Well, after seeing Promises today, it seems like the biggest things they are working on are their next Broadway revival (How to Succeed) and the new Damn Yankees movie with Jim Carrey and Jake Gyllenhall.

I am still a huge fan of ABCs South Pacific. Sure,Glenn Close looks way too old for the role, and yes Harry Connic Jr. croons a bit too much, but it still had great production values, and I really liked the screen play as a whole. I like that they put emphasis on the war as well as the romance. For me the good outweighed the bad, and it really worked for me.

I just rediscovered ABCs Cinderella and it's probably one of my favorite movies ever! Bernadette Peters is amazing.
I actually don't like their version of Annie. I think it's mainly the orphans that get on my nerves but I still prefer the 1982 one.

When Brandy was asked if her previous dance experience will help her, she said it was different than what she will be doing on the show. Then, Jennifer Grey asked her, "What about that ballroom dancing in Cinderella?" And then Brandy said, "Girl that was camera for you."

Well, once again I'm in the minority with my opinion of "The Music Man". I thought it was thoroughly enjoyable primarily due to Broderick's performance. Although I must admit, I hated the fashion design in this one and Cheno looked ridiculous in all of her costumes and wigs. The two main characters did have a lot of chemistry and the love story was featured prominently as opposed to the original show where the actual fraud took center stage. I enjoyed the TV version because of that. I also did not enjoy Victor Garber's sour portrayal of the Mayor, although I usually do appreciate him in everything else. Molly Shannon was great, as was Deborah Monk and the little boy. He was much better than Ron Howard. Broderick was charming and sweet and I thought he did a great job in a very difficult role.
