Roger, Mimi, or Tom Collins? Do you think they are dead now? True AIDS medications have improved since then. But...
I think Mimi's dead, because after breaking up with Roger (Yet, again, cuz that was an unhealthy relationship to begin with) she went and whored around, not taking care of herself.
And Mark? He got a job with E, which eventually moved him up - now he works for CNN
What about Maureen and Joanne - do you think they're still together?
And what is Tom doing now?
I believe TOM is now a NYC cop
Maureen and JoAnne broke up, but Maureen still prefers the taste of chocolate to vanilla.
JoAnne is now MJ's lawyer...

Maureen and Joanne broke up. Maureen is still holding protests. Joanne has moved from Legal Aid into a top law firm.
Mimi was the first to die, in 1997, but I think she and Roger stayed together (sorry, hopeless romantic). Roger passed on a year later and a tribute concert was put together by Mark and Collins and featured many of Roger's friends from his Well Hungarians days.
Mark works with the Sundance Film Festival committee and runs a small independent film company.
Tom Collins took up Computer Sciences professorship at NYU, and was a favorite amongst his students and colleagues. In 2001, his health caused him to retired and he died of pneumonia in October 2002.
Benny is now working in a middle paying office job, and still recouperating expenses from his divorce with Alison. The HIV virus, however, remains dormant.
Wait a sec. Call me crazy, but how do we know this stuff? Doesn't the point of ending the show the way it ends have something to do with that "no day but today" philosophy, and that maybe we aren't *supposed* to know? Unless of course this is written somewhere, then... my mistake.

I KNOW, emcee. But still, you can't help but wonder...
maureen and joanne broke up, and joanne moved to Boston, where she is now teaching Law at Harvard Law...
maureen is still living in nyc, protesting and acting. She recently quit her day job, which was waitressing at a diner. She has a fish named pookie
Collins is still teaching at NYU, where the students have become more open minded and he is quite well-liked. He has needed to take several long vacations because of the virus. He isn't expected to live much longer.
Mark interned in LA for about a year before moving back to new york and starting an independant film company.
Mimi died in 1997, and roger died two months later. Mark, Maureen, Joanne, Collins and benny held A memorial for them, and for angel as well.
Benny is now at a high-paying office job. He and Allison divorced shortly after mimi and roger's deaths.
alexi darling is still a sleeze
"I think it was the Korean tour or something. They were all frickin' asian!" -Zoran912
*sigh of relief*
So this isn't official or anything?
I know emotional attachment the characters is silly, but I want Roger to live! *cries*
I was scared that this was like... the RENT gospel or something, and I was really sad!
emcee, i agree with what you think about the whole "no day but today" idea....i think it is also there to say "what happened next is in the imaginations of the audience members" ..here's what i envisioned!

*pats emcee's head* I like the new Adam iconage, btw- from beginning of School of Rock?
/Emcee's almost-heart attack.
Yeah, it's from School of Rock. I had to pay homage to the Adam eye-roll.

So, what is your idea of what happened after Rent, encee?

Maureen and Joanne are still together. Joanne is now with Court TV and Maureen is Michael Moore's personal assistant. They have a daughter named Mimi, fathered by Mark.
Mark is the head of an indie film company and has been nominated for an Oscar for his movie "Today 4 U: Proof Positive."
Mimi died in the late 1990s, with Roger not so far behind. Collins is currently in the last stages of his life, at a nursing home in Manhattan.
Okay, this is just a bit to wonder about...
Why does everyone seem to rush Roger's death? I was always under the impression he was diagnosed with the HIV virus fairly recently, so he still has quite a bit to go. I mean, I'm not exactly sure what the statistics were in the mid to late 1990s, but people nowadays have been known to live with HIV for 10 to 12 years before developing AIDS. And when they develop AIDS, they can live for 3 to 4 full years after that..............
I agree that Mimi's on her way out, though. She was pretty sick.
Mark's continuing with his filmmaking dreams. I don't know when/if he'll ever make it, but for the sake of YAYness, let's say he does. Eventually.
Maureen and Joanne are likely still together, if miserably--and breaking up every few weeks or so. They have a turbulent relationship, yet they can't seem to stay completely apart.
I think Tom Collins would be the one to die after Mimi. He seems like he's been around for awhile......
...Er, yeah. May have been slightly OT. Sorry!
I actually prefer not to think about it. I mean, the reality of what would happen to these people if they *were* in fact real is harsh and depressing, and I don't want to have to be the one to invent those fates. If I could choose, I'd have things be happy... but that's not realistic.
I know what you mean. I'm attached to these characters. :)
I just wonder why the hell everyone's like "ROGER DIES IN ANOTHER YEAR." Cuz I completely disagree with that. And that's not just because I love him to bits. ^_^
WHY IS EVERYONE KILLING MY ROGER??!?!
I know, he's sick but but but... *cries hysterically*
I promise I'm sane.

I love this thread. It's so interesting to see what people think would happen. Me? I also prefer pretty much not to think about it but the hopeless romantic in me hopes Roger and Mimi would stay together.

thespi- LOVE the maureen thing. Made me laugh.
::patpats Emcee on the head::
There, there. We all love Roger! That's why I'm insisting he still has plenty of time to go.
What the hell? Mimi dies at the end of the show.
she does!? I saw it like a year ago for the first time and I don't even remember that being a question in my mind!

Mimi dies at the end? How the hell did I miss this? Who are they talking about during "Finale B" then? In fact, who starts saying "I jumped over the moon?"
now I'm totally lost... I'm gonna ask my BFF who is a total rent head. I don't think she dies... If she did I'm totally in the dark
I already told you what happened....
don't believe me, that's fine...
oh, mimi and roger are living it up on the east side...
