Rent DVD - Does anyone have OFFICIAL word That Halloween, Goodbye Love and the filmed Contact will be in the DVD

Since Rent did so poorly in the theatres and since it cost 40,000,000 to make and it hasn't even made that much in domestic, any actual OFFICIAL word that these extras will be on the DVD. I have my doubts considering it costs more to put these extras along with commentaries on a DVD and I can see the DVD distributors not going for that. Any info?

I swear that on one of the blogs Chris Columbus said that "Goodbye Love" and "Halloween" would be on the DVD but he wouldn't put them back into the film b/c it slowed the pacing. I know the blogs were filmed before the movie was released but that's all I've heard about it.

Contact was rehearsed, not filmed. There is no "official" word on GL or Halloween being on the DVD since Sony has not yet listed the special features, but I believe Columbus has said it would be on the DVD.

Since before I even gave a damn (ie before last week), I'd heard several times that GL and Halloween would be on the DVD.

I remember someone saying on here (Michael Bennett, perhaps?) that DVDs are usually put together around the time a film hits theaters, so the movie's gross shouldn't affect the DVD extras.

They are on the movie soundtrack (which I happen to be listening to now), so I suspect they will be on there. Man, this dvd can't get here fast enough.

thanks for your replies, but IMDB (and yes before people go off on it, I know its not that reliable) has Contact listed as a filmed piece that never made it to any cut. But of course they could be wrong, but still anyone have a link to anything especially by Whiteboy Spice that says these cuts songs would be on the DVD?

I think Anthony mentioned it at a Q&A a few weeks ago. I could be wrong though.

I know they rehearsed Contact, and that rehearsals were filmed...but I never saw it in the scripts, and I don't remember anyone mention that parts of Contact were actually filmed for the movie.

Chris Columbus has said more than once that they would be on the DVD.

EDIT: Halloween and Goodbye Love, not Contact.

I read an interview with Columbus not too long before the movie was released in theatres. Contact was not filmed because it simply didn't work on screen. I'm looking for the interview as we speak and will post it as soon as I dig it up.

As for Halloween and The continuation of GBL, Colombus also said they would be on the dvd.

Maybe he'll be nice and release a directors cut and add it back into the film in its context, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll be happy with Deleted Scenes.

GL and Halloween were both filmed and will be on the DVD, according to both Chris Columbus and Anthony.

That's all we know so far. Depending on how much money they want to put into the DVD, I wouldn't be surprised to see all of the video blogs on there. I'd also *love* a stage-to-screen documentary, but I don't know.

I think one of Anthony's posts did say that Goodbye Love and Halloween would appear on DVD. Maybe one of us can try to dig it up, but I'll be damned if I have any idea which post that was in. However, one of the video blogs had Columbus saying that they would be on there, as deleted scenes, and when I've spoken with Anthony, he assured me that they would absolutely be on the DVD.

Contact was NOT filmed. Rumor rumor rumor.

One of the video blogs from Columbus was about why he chose to cut Goodbye Love. He states that GL and Halloween will be on the DVD, but not in the original cut of the film; they will be separate.

I still can't believe they cut those songs! GL explains so much about what's going on in the story. And Halloween is such a crucial reflective moment for Mark...

I saw the movie the Wednesday after it opened with a friend, and the songs were there. Then, recently, I went to see it with my mother and was shocked that they were no longer in it. I don't know what Mr. Columbus is talking about...seeing those performances are not going to make anyone explode/emotionally shut off...they're moving *and* they have purpose.

I'm glad they'll be on the DVD. It's just too bad they have to be separate

apparently in addition to april's death scene in OSG, they taped a roger/april "sex scene" for the song that was also cut... wouldn't mind if that stuff was put on the dvd *jokes*

TangoSchadenfreude, are you sure that you saw them in there? They were never actually PUT into the film at all...except when they were editing it....they didn't just randomly decide to take them out after releasing it.

The only lucky people that saw Halloween and the second half of Goodbye Love were those that saw it in test screenings prior to the decision of them being cut out of the film - shame on you Chris C.

Read somewhere today (ca't remember where) that the DVD will be on 2 discs so I would assume there will be those deleted scenes as well as hopefully lots of juicy extras!
