Has anyone seen the current RENT tour recently? What kind of shape is the show in on the road? I'm seeing it in Seattle next month and am just curious.

My opinion: Harley is great as Mark. Roger goes back and forth between being "roger" and "british rockstar". The girl who plays Joanne is fantastic! Overall, everyone else was really really weak.

The cast is amazing. The only one who I can't speak for is Jen Talton (Mimi) since when I saw the show Krystal was still with them. The only thing that may get in the way is Declan's (Roger) British accent, but it didn't bug me at all. I honestly think that this cast is more talented than the current one on Broadway. Have fun at the show! :)

I think that each of the eight actors who play the principal parts are very strong. I saw Jennifer Talton, and she is very talented vocally. I feel she will blend in with the cast once she has been there longer. This show is definitely more enjoyable than my last Broadway Rent experience. I love Chante and Tracy - they are a great Maureen/Joanne pair. Declan is an enjoyable Roger, but he is definitely not taking after Adam Pascal. I love Declan's take.

So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?

The cast is solid with some definite standout performances. Only five weeks left to see it. This cast has their final show on May 20.

When is RENT ever bad? I've seen it 3 times - all on tour. All 3 were AWESOME! RENT is the most incredible show EVER! No day like today!

There's nothing wrong with asking about a show. I'm sure Dickondefysgravity will form his or her own opinion after seeing the show. But Sleeth1, please don't sound so obsessed.

How could EVERY touring cast be "the best?" "The best" means nothing is better, so every cast couldn't be THE BEST. There's nothing wrong with you loving RENT. But just because you like it doesn't make it the most incredible show EVER.

If it is anything like the film, please spare us - go to La Boheme instead, at least you will not sleep through it!

Has anyone seen the current RENT tour recently?

The tour just came through my area, and I was *very* impressed....and I haven't been impressed with a non-equity tour of RENT yet.

I love Declan Bennett's characterization of 'Roger' - he's angry, frustrated, and softens in all the right places....he's always in character reacting to everything - not to mention his vocals are really, really good. (Some have commented on the accent, but honestly? On the rare occassion his accent affects a pronounciation here and there - it's barely noticable.)
The rest of the cast is really solid, and the 'Angel' is one heck of a dancer.

I hope you have a great time, and let us know what you thought.

So many things wrong with this statement. The second (and last) time I saw RENT, I didn't enjoy it at all except for Christopher J. Hanke as Mark (I am a fan of the show, it just...wasn't good). And um, the quote is "No day BUT today."
