RENT. You're not going to have another chance to see those two in these roles.

You'll have time to see Spring Awakening another time.

Yeah, but if he doesn't go to the city that often, he won't have the chance to see the original cast of sa in their roles either. Both shows will still be around, so that argument doesn't really hold, unless you care more about seeing those two.

RENT.

And as for the argument that then you could say you'd seen the hottest show on Broadway, what does that matter if you don't like it? I'm much more proud to tell people I saw Grey Gardens than Spring Awakening. It doesn't hold much stock if you don't like it.

I saw Spring Awakening and I was... disappointed, to put it as kindly as possible. It seemed to me as though the aim was simply to shock the audience as much as possible.

My vote is for Rent. See it because you love it and you love the people in it- the fact that a certain show is 'Broadway's Hottest Musical' just doesn't seem like a good reason to see it.

Well, you've seen it 6 times. Spring Awakening is fresh and amazing, and I would recommend seeing it as soon as possible. It's your choice, and it's just my 2 cents, but I say go see Spring Awakening. I really think you won't regret it and you won't feel like you missed out on anything with Rent. Who knows, in ten years if Spring is still popular, you could say you saw the original cast, instead of just 2 members of Rent now. Just my opinion.

I saw both last week. I am a huge fan of both shows, and in my opinion, both shows are in great shape. There are reasons to see both.

Here's the my opinion

Spring Awakening IS the hottest thing on Broadway--- to the tourists. I saw SA in January before the Tony awards, and the audience was far more enthusiastic and mature. This time audience members were laughing at things that were not funny, and it took away from the drama of the show. It is a very mainstream show now... However, the three principal actors are fantastic, and in my opinion, they make the show.

Rent - the audience is insane --- in a good way. If you love Rent, and Adam and/or Anthony, and you really want to see members of the original cast - you should go. This is probably the most enthusiastic and energetic audience you can see Rent with. It really is neat to see those guys return to their roles.

So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?

I say Rent. But I'm bias because Rent is my favorite show and I think Spring Awakening is pretty overrated....

Go for Rent. I say it is worth seeing it another time and missing out on the original cast of SA to see Adam and Anthony perform the roles. I mean, it is never gonna happen again in the future (I hope not). Plus, I mainly see a good amount of SA OBC sticking around for at least another few months-a year.

"Yeah, but if he doesn't go to the city that often, he won't have the chance to see the original cast of sa in their roles either."

I don't think the original cast of Spring Awakening is nearly as special as these two guys in Rent. Adam and Anthony were integral to the creation of this show, and their connection to it, its writer, and the times the show talks about are things you virtually can't find in many of the performers that have some into the show over the past couple of years. I really really think Adam and Anthony should not be missed by anyone who is a fan of Rent.

Well, I think the cast of SA is probably special too, but if he's a Rent fan, go for Adam and Anthony. I dont think the SA cast is going anywhere, but I'm not sure

Possible compromise: Buy a ticket for one. If you buy RENT, try the student rush for SA. If you buy SA, try the lottery. So you can at least say you didn't try?

"I can kind of see the reasoning of the people who say to go see Rent. But Spring Awakening could pull a Spelling Bee and bring in a new cast that can't compare to the old.

This intirgued me. I want to see SA but I doubt that it won't be until sometime after the New Year (I don't know how long the actors plan on staying). How do you think the show will last as it looses its originals?

This is a somewhat biased opinion but I'd go with Spring Awakening.

It makes no difference about if they see the original cast of SA or not, the original Rent cast were phenomenons who made a real impact.

Go and see Rent

If you buy RENT, try the student rush for SA. If you buy SA, try the lottery. So you can at least say you didn't try?

There's not really a TRYING for student rush. It's just if you get your butt out of bed early enough. No risk there.

Sorry...it just drives me crazy when people are like "I'm going to TRY rush..." There's not really a lot of chance in it unless you're right at the cusp of enough tickets. If you plan out and get there early, you're fine.
