Word at the show was David Byrne and fellow performers will return this summer, but nothing before June. Another comment was Bruce.
Sound plausible?

Depends on whether any forthcoming blockbusters want the theatre - it's one of the largest on Broadway, and one of the hardest to fill. If American Utopia is to return after its April closing, I expect it to do so as a stop-gap before a grander production...

I mean there are some new shows coming in soon. I thought Cinderella would go there, but rumor has it that it's going to the Imperial. I heard Once Upon a One More Time is planning a Broadway run. It will either go to the Shubert or the St. James. I also know & Juliet is planning a Broadway run after its Toronto engagement. I cannot really see American Utopia coming back after this run for a while. It should go on tour, but the question would be if David Byrne goes on the road.

Well since the Nederlanders are the lead producer, it would stand to reason that they will play a Nederlander house.

as good as both Utopia and Bruce are, i think they've both returned enough....... move aside and give us a 'strictly limited return engagement' of Sunday in the Park with George if you're looking for something to fill the void. Please, and thank you....

Has it sold well enough to warrant a return engagement? Its sales haven't been stellar despite extensions, and this seems like a "we squeaked by" situation. If they return a third time, results could be even worse. Bruce is a different situation, and no doubt Jordan will move heaven and earth to get him to play another engagement.
That said, if there's nobody begging to play the St. James anytime soon, then something has to fill the void or the house sits empty a while.

I suspect Byrne will be out in Denver this summer preparing for "Theater of the Mind" which opens there at the end of August. I am planning to fly out and see it with a friend.

Didn't think this return engagement was selling well. But if there's nothing else scheduled to come in, do they take a 2 month hiatus and return in June just for the summer?

Don't know about that, but Roth surprised folks with Springsteen after a post-pandemic closure. Perhaps he has another surprise planned. I thought it odd that future plans have not been advertised so close to Utopia's April 3 date. I assumed a theater locks in a show well in advance.
Utopia was sold out yesterday. Holiday weekend helped.

Does anyone have any updates on whether the show will make a summer return? It seems pretty much sold out for the last four or five shows, which I think is pretty darn respectable for something more avante garde.
