Richard H. Blake is joining the Broadway cast of "Wicked" on March 29 as Fiyero. I saw him in the national tour last May and I thought he was terrific. I also really enjoyed him as Warner in the televised production of "Legally Blonde." Congrats to him.

Back to 40 year old Fiyeros again!
Why is Kyle Dean Massey leaving after only two months?
He's going to be in the off-Broadway show, Lucky Guy.

Kyle is doing an Off-Broadway show next.
I think Andy Karl, Norbert Leo Butz, and Richard are the three best actors to play the role in America.

You've seen them all? In the theater?
I saw Richard H. Blake as Fiyero when the Wicked tour hit San Antono last year. Not only is he very talented, but he is quite the handsome fellow. Swoon. RC in Austin, Texas
Kyle is leaving Broadway's biggest hit for an Off-Broadway show?

Does anyone know if Kyle is returning after he does his Off-Broadway show or if Richard is a permanent replacement?
TaleofTwo this seems like the kind of role that the producers will let him come and go from.
Mr. Blake is a GREAT Fiyero. Definitely my favorite of the ones I've seen. His "As Long As You're Mine" is verrrry steamy and well-sung.
I saw Karl on the last tour that went through Denver and he was excellent.
Andy Karl never performed on the tour.
I am almost positive that was him. Isn't he married to Orfeh? Who did the last tour? I saw it about a year and a half-2 years ago.
I saw Richard on tour back in 2009. While I enjoyed his performance, I have to say I actually thought his understudy, Bryan West, played the part better. But congrats anyways to Richard- I'm sure he'll be a great addition to the Broadway company!
My bad. It was Blake. I knew it was someone from Legally Blonde!
When I saw this on tour, Richard H. Blake was pretty much the only standout in the cast.
I actually enjoyed it more than the 1st National Tour. I was not impressed with Block as Elphaba and in this last tour we went to the "preview" performance and the Elphaba understudy was on and blew every song out of the box. Her Defying Gravity gave me goosebumps. I can't remember her name.

TWO: Sometimes actors like to leave a hit and move on to other projects to expand their horizons.

I think it's sort of a farce that in the press releases about Blake joining the cast, they still list Katie Rose Clarke as Glinda.
She hasn't performed in the show for 3 weeks, and won't be performing for another couple of months. Laura Woyasz has essentially assumed the role, with Lindsay Northen standing by. Libby Servais was brought in from the tour to cover Northen's ensemble track.

Katie has the flu, which is why she's been out. I hope she'll get well soon.
Whatever the issue is, she's not and hasn't played Glinda for 3 weeks and is out for the next two months. Laura Woyasz, who's much better anyway, is the current Glinda.
In my opinion, the exclamation point at the end of the thread title is not warranted.
