I'd expect this type of banter on Nikki Finke but not here.
Why? Have you BEEN here?
Mary Martin, anyone?
"Dyke, ya know!"...as Ethel Merman once pointed out.
the hateful comments about Sean Hayes seem to be sadly misplaced on a site that's WWWWAAAAAYYYYY gayer than he is
WWWWAAAAAYYYYY gayer than Sean Hayes? Impossible!
What is wrong with some of you people?
"None of us got enough love in our childhoods. And that's showbiz."
"Kristin Chenoweth played a teenage girl at age 35 and none of you bitched about it. Many of you constantly queened it up about her being a goddess and now she wants to play the role of a 22 year old and you want to throw her off the stage like used meat."
If I am ever asked to pen a remake of VALLEY OF THE DOLLS, I am so using this.
Ugh, I'm keeping my mind open but both seem all wrong for this.
Cheno is too old. I don't care if she is the height of my 2 year old, she's not 21. Far from it.
I agree with the Little Me suggestion. They'd be perfect in it. I found the last revival thoroughly uninspiring. These two with Ashford could get it write. But, not gonna happen.
I love the Lohan idea MB.
And the fact this was pitched to her as Mad Men the Musical is troubling to say the least.

Some posters here have problems with "age", consistency in their views, maybe even a little jealousy too. Neil Meron and Craig Zadan are the experienced professionals and have been taking their time with casting of this musical Promises, Promises.
Kristin Chenoweth and Sean Hayes will do an outstanding job in their performances, to be sure of that. Saying that one of them or the other is "too old" for the part is prejudice and age discrimination. Both of them ARE household names and award winners multiple times over.
I am looking forward to this project by both of them and they WILL pull it off.
Yes, this world is full of naysayers and over-critical thinking people!
Yes, that would be you, Marquise and don't leave out Michael Bennett too. And include the homophobic negativism with respect to the tone of posters commenting.
This thread is on the subject of Kristin being hired on for the role in Promises Promises and a subtext would be the lead roles of Kristin and Sean (which by the way will be just fine).

That's my favorite part.
"Neil Meron and Craig Zadan are the experienced professionals"
Weren't these the same idiots who cast Matthew Broderick in The Music Man and Brandi in Cinderella?
What exactly is "homophobic negativism"? That's a new one on me.

Isn't that a lyric from the "Imposible" song from Cinderella?
"homophobic negativism" =
"Snagglepuss in Chinese pajamas"

I'm still scratching my head over that string of words.
No! This thread is all about Jill O'Hara's voice. Turkey Lurkey Time choreography. Snagglepuss. And the Miracle Worker.
