What wonderful news!!!!!
Here's another great musical classic that I can now share with my grandchildren!!!!!!
Well...she sure is refusing to grow up.
I'd like to see this one. I've never seen it on Broadway before.
I was sad when her last tour as Peter was announced as a farewell tour. I'll NEVER forget the magic of when I first saw her do the role when I was young. I wish that experience onto every child.
I love Cathy as Peter. I know some people are a little tired of her in the role, but I love her, and this production, and I'm glad it's coming back.

The tour was suppose to be her last performance ever as Peter, but then she repised the role again in 2008 at Pittsburgh CLO and again in 2009 at Branson.
Ah that's right! I forgot she did those. I remember chuckling to myself when those were announced, being all the hype surrounding the farewell aspects of the tour.
If this happens, I'd love to see Terrence Mann as Hook/Darling.

I saw her on tour back in the late '90s (along with Paul Schoeffler as Hook). She was phenomenal. This is wonderful news!
I love that there will be a 2-hour documentary on the production!!
The story of PETER PAN is the most-revived on Broadway. The PETER PAN franchise is probably the highest-grossing one in the history of the theatre. I dare anyone to name a different franchise that has grossed more money than PETER PAN.
Yes, many are tired of the Rigby production that she has been doing since the '90s. And there's the argument of "how about a NEW production and a NEW Peter." But I say if *THIS* musical version of Peter Pan is going to still be produced, then by all means let Cathy do it.
Let's bring the Stiles & Drewe Peter Pan musical to the States!!

I cannot wait, and hope that the revival actually comes about. I saw her perform the role in Branson multiple times and could not get enough of it. So magical.

Just curious, but as many times as she's performed the role, has she ever been seriously injured?

CapnHook-
The Oz franchise has probably made more money.
I would love this, but I'd like to see some new things added to it. Like, a new set and scenic design. Maybe even a new costume.
I agree with madbrain, Terrence Mann would be too perfect for then role! With maybe Jenn Gambatese as Wendy?

I think at over 30, Gambatese is a bit too old to be Wendy.
We're talking Cathy Rigby as Peter Pan, but we can't look past age for the other characters?
Exactly. lol Not only that, but she doesn't really look it.
Carolee Carmello would be a great Mrs. Darling.
The article does say "in an all new production." Maybe that will extend to the designs?
Count me among those who's very excited to see her in the role again. She's really magical.

No no no, please God NO!
Cathy Rigby's tour in the late 80's was my first experience with theatre, and I still hold a very special place in my heart for it and it is one of my favorite shows. Her tour in the last 90s was even better - loved the design, loved Paul Schoeffler and Elisa Sagardia. I saw her "farewell tour" when it played at MSG. Please. NO. Not again. I was miserable.
She was once a great Peter, and Paul Rubin gives her some incredible flying. But she is getting to be like Brett Favre. She NEEDS to let go. She passed the peak. I want and need a new Peter and a new Peter.
I love the property and want to see it well. I feel like McCoy-Rigby has started to abuse the property. They tour it into the ground, they never let ANYONE touch it, they give it a cheap production that makes the Weisslers look like spenders and the their productions are never "state of the art".
I want this revived so badly. I want a great original production. I want a new Peter. I want a creative, no stops, sit down production with a great cast across the board. McCoy-Rigby will NEVER give us that. Never. Never. Never. I realized that when I was in the audience last time and it broke me.
The only good to come of this could be the two hour documentary and the merchandising.
As far as "all new production", her last tour was billed as such... and technically, eve with the same designs, it WILL be an all new production.
I second the hope that is a newly designed production. There was nothing thrilling about the McCoy-Rigby production - and it just kept going and going. I saw it in on tour in 1998, then the A&E television production, then on tour in 2004, then at MSG - AND THEN, just when I thought there MAY BE A newly designed, original production at Papermill Playhouse last season - they use the hideous McCoy-Rigby sets and costumes.
I personally thought the 1991 Rigby production on Broadway was more visually appealing.
This makes me so happy. And I, for one, want to see Marc Kudisch as Captain Hook. No, I NEED to see Marc Kudisch as Captain Hook.

Pete,
I was ASTOUNDED at how cheaply and poorly made the costumes were when I saw it at MSG. I was SHOCKED at the fact that they went backwards 50 years in technoloy in how they created Tinker Bell for that tour vs the 97 tour. I was perturbed at all of peter's crwos being plainly lipsynced. I was horribly distracted at Rigby wearing a headset mic while everyone else worn standard hidden miniature mics.
A note to YOUR post, the sets from her late 80s / 1991 production were the heavily refurbished sets from the 1979 Sandy Suncan - production, not original to the tour... but yes, some of it was newly designed.
Kudish is perfect casting.
I'm rather ambivalent about the idea. I love her in the role. I loved the production I saw on tour in 1999 (the same one that was filmed). I love the show. But, I would love to see someone else do it. As long as it's redesigned, I think I'll be happy.
