The ticket person kept saying it was 2 hours with one intermission. i didn't look at my watch after, but that sounds about right.

Show runs slightly less than 2 hours, including the intermission. Saw this Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed it. I can watch MaryLouise Burke all day.

Did I say a name?
Am I the only one that does it?
Have removed the offending passage. Hopefully I am still allowed to say I am seeing it. Look forward to your diligence should someone else do this.

Make sure you patrol the board viligently to catch everyone else who does it.
Thank You

Going to see this "vapid" show today. Someone accused me of only see vapid shows like On Your Feet simply because I refuse to bow down at the Hamilton altar. I assume that this and any show I see is vapid because of this
Guilty as charged. My wife and I enjoy theater more not seeing as much and seeing shows like this instead of shows that you have to literally pay an arm and a leg to see. We saw BOM and learned our lesson on that one.

You told us two days ago when you got the tickets. We don't need constant updates as the event approaches. No one is really that interested in your life. Hope this retirement community play doesn't hit too close to home.

Also, I'm pretty sure every user on this board and their mothers know that you and your wife went to see Book of Mormon and didn't like it. If I had a dollar for every time you posted about Book of Mormon, I could buy a full-priced ticket to see it.

Not really funny, not engaging, not particularly well written, and sometimes embarrassingly childish. The worst thing about it was the level of meanness, if not cruelty, in the "pranks" of the two leads, aided and abetted by other characters as well. All told, a none-too-pleasant experience.

If I had a dollar for every time someone said Hamilton was the greatest thing in the history of mankind.......
Somehow, life will go on for us without seeing it. To make you happy, I will never again mention BOM. To bad , Hamilton will be mentioned every other word in every other thread.
Oh well. Off to see another vapid show that is not you know what

Roxy, if it makes you feel better: I do think Hamilton is brilliant, and that it's one of the best musicals of the millennium, but I am also getting tired of all the threads about it. So in that regard, I can sympathize. But if you haven't seen the show, you can't really knock people for liking it.

Mrs. Roxy and you could spend the rest of your lives living in luxury on the French Riviera.
And you know what? If I had merely a penny for every time someone said that..... I could too!

That was a good one After
We just returned from seeing it . Engaging little play but since it is not a certain show it must be said to be vapid. Not a knock against it and we enjoyed it but what do we know. The show is engaging and very enjoyable . The cast is superb especially Holland Taylor and Mary Louise Burke
Worth your time and we recommend it.
To J Broadway. When someone tells me I am vapid and basically a couch potato and know nothing about theater because I do not see it (guess which show it is) it kind of gets to me. I told the person so in a pm and told him not to reply. He did anyway and true to my word, I will not read it.
By the way, picked up tickets for Encores Do I Hear A Waltz?

You could afford to see Hamilton and stop railing against it for no reason?! I've been making show choices based on my income lately. but I don't keep badmouthing the shows I don't see, just because it is more than my current budget allows. It's not impossible.

To J
I do not knock people for seeing it and liking it. By the same token, I should not be knocked and called names for not seeing it for whatever the reason.
I am a little weary of being told your entire life is meaningless if you do not see this one show. The hype is over the top and annoying.

Re. Hamilton, should one musical number on a par with, say, "I Dreamed A Dream" from Les Mis filter out to me, I'm there. Nothing yet, so I'll be seeing Ripcord. I know I'll be seeing at least two great actresses on stage.

Just listened to the CD. Score is good but since it mostly rap, one song sorta sounds like the one before. It is a shame it cannot stand on its own merits instead of being hyped to high heaven. It is a success and I am glad for it for all those involved. They will survive nicely without us seeing it
You should enjoy Ripcord

Well, you compare every single show you see in comparison to it, seems pretty natural. No one is coming in this thread and saying everyone should Hamilton instead. No one is saying they will enjoy Hamilton more than On Your Feet in the On Your Feet thread, it is all one way. Unless you mean you see Hamilton things written in Hamilton threads?! In which case, what a surprise!!

This was not a great show (not a bad show, but not a great show) but it made for an enjoyable afternoon. It wasn't hilarious but there were jokes that landed. The two lead actresses really make this play worth seeing. The caretaker was also good. I also liked him in Of Good Earth. The rest of the actors were just kind of there and the son had an odd accent. I wish this play was more of something. Darker in humor or completely fluffy like a Hallmark movie or one of those things you watch on a plane. I don't think it made a strong choice one way or the other and instead distracted with things like the haunted house and the skydiving that felt like too much. Also, I saw the last reveal coming from a mile away and was surprised that much of the audience gasped in reaction. Even if there hadn't been a pattern already established, there were little clues that pointed to the reveal.

Posted: 8/12/20 at 9:48amJust re-read this for the second time - I'd echo the statements it feels like a long sitcom episode but nonetheless, I really enjoyed it! I've one question for anyone who saw the production - how was the skydiving at the end of act one staged?
