NPH isn't necessarily over exposed, he should just stick to doing films. He was good in Gone Girl. He's basically "done" TV, won awards, hosted shows, and so on. Hes won a Tony and played one of the most intriguing roles on broadway. He should focus on films now.

To stay in the eye of the 'general public' one must appear on TV or film-this is the medium that made him a house hold name.
He is a public figure, accepted for his sexuality and home life-not unique anymore- so, roles for NPH .
To old for Barnaby-would be perfect.
Harold Hill-perhaps not old enough and 'too cute'.
Am sure he doesn't want to cross dress again but Cabaret would be a great fit--not Sally--silly!

He's done the MC before. Can't remember if it was as a replacement or in LA.
As with every other thread like this, it can only discuss revivals. So it gets pretty boring.

I agree with MusicDirector...BARNUM is the inevitable choice....He is perfect for it, he has expressed interest in doing the show and it is due for revival. I think (hope) this one will happen.

have ended (or not been extended) due to "exhausting" work being put into it. I admire his work but maybe he needs to go back to something that doesn't take such a physical toll on the poor guy. "
He extended in Hedwig for four weeks, but there's no evidence he had much interest in going longer, even with the box office bonanza of his run.

It has been whispered in my ear that it's so friggin' obnoxious to have insider information (or pretend to), post on a message board and not divulge the information.
Spill the tea or SHUT. UP.
Nobody got time for dat.

The project that Neil is attached to has been whispered about for months now. If you don't know what it is then you're clearly too basic, Carlos. Get with it gurl.

Hey- Use some initiative, go to the Broadway Futures section, and see if anything like what has been suggested is actually listed...

Since NBC's decision not to produce The Music Man this year may signal a reticence to be tied to the more stuffy characterizations lobbed at the first two iterations, could Barnum be something of a compromise between the more traditional musical theatre nature of the two original live musicals and the pop/rock sensibility of The Wiz? Is it even an appropriate choice for a live network broadcast?
I'm admittedly not that familiar with the show but I do know it well enough to know that the title role is ideal for NPH. My limited knowledge of the show leads me to believe it might make a great choice as the roles outside of P.T. Barnum and Charity are relatively small, at least in terms of song and dance requirements. The real heavy lifting goes to the chorus of circus performers and marching band musicians. Would an NPH Barnum be a good consideration for NBC in 2016 or 2017?

Calm down, ladies.
What is this project that has been "whispered about for months" because I haven't heard it.

I don't understand what any of that means--though can't be a compliment.
I like Carlos-outspoken, upfront and a spunky spitfire.

Alas, Carlos has won. I shall always be known at the other woman. The Idina Menzel to Ben Brantley. The Barbra Streisand to Carol Channing. The misunderstood Kristin Chenoweth to Idina Menzel.

He is rather overexposed. But if we absolutely must, maybe something with a little more edge to it. I actually think he'd be a good Michael in BOYS IN THE BAND.

Why bring him back at all? He can't act, certainly can't sing, and he makes me want to punch him in the face every time I see him.
