Any know what ever happened with the musical or heard of any updates? The last thing thing I heard about was the reading in NY last year.

It did a read again this year as well
Hopefully, the musical will figure out how to make it funny.
Romy & Michele is the funniest movie ever made.

I hope it comes to fruition. I laugh aloud at very few movies; ROMY & MICHELE is one of them. It's on my DVR (until the next time my cable company's lousy box falls apart, anyway). Whenever I need a pick-me-up, I hit play. "Oh, Ramon!"

AGREED
It would be a good show to play in rep with Side Show.
I guess my expectations were too high when it was released because I thought it would be the dream-team film. I loved Kudrow on Friends and I loved Sorvino in Mighty Aphrodite. Then I saw the film and found it something of a chore to sit through. A couple of decent moments, but overall, I thought it was surprisingly mediocre.
But then, I hated There's Something About Mary and Austin Powers, so it's probably just me.
Mister Matt, please don't compare Romy & Michele's to that other crap. They're on totally different levels. I'm on board with Jordan's opinion though.
My favorite thing in life is my R&M poster signed "To Matt - F*CK OFF! Love, Janeane Garofalo"

When I went to my reunion a few weeks ago I wanted to say "F*CK off!" as I blew past the check-in.

Also, when Vampire Tara smoked a cigarette three episodes ago it was very Ladyfair Cigarettes.
Entertainment Weekly did an interview with Lisa & Mira last year (I think) and they talked about how another movie might just happen. Part of me thinks it would be impossible to recreate how brilliant H.S. Reunion is but the bigger part of me would do anything to see it get made.
Phyllis, my friends and I joked all week about that.
There was a prequel sort of thing done by ABC Family about them actually in high school that starred Katherine Heigl and Alex Breckenridge.

Sorry! I tried to like it. I watched it several times because I kept thinking I was missing something or maybe I was in a bad mood.
But no...it just never worked for me.
I never said it was good, but it sadly happened. Can't really stand Kathy Heigl much at all aside from 27 Dresses.

I think the real beauty of the film comes from the performances of Kudrow and Sorvino. Wasn't it all based on a Groundlings character of Kudrows that got turned into a play (Ladies' Night) and then into a movie? I have a hard time seeing anyone living up to the movie's cast.
Which is why I don't think the musical will ever go anywhere.
I would love to see this on stage, too, in theory, but I agree that I don't know who could really come close to those performances. So I don't think it could ever work nearly as well. I think that was the issue with Legally Blonde for me. There's a movie that's so wonderfully clever and really subverts a lot of expectations. It just didn't live up as a musical.
I think this will go the same way that a few other of my favorite comedies that try to get turned into musicals have. Readings or concerts that lead to no actual production.
I saw the Heathers musical concert at Joe's Pub and thought it was really great. I had tickets for the Jawbreaker musical but couldn't make it out.
