"Rondi Reed, who won a Tony Award for her performance in August: Osage County, will join the Broadway company of Wicked in March.
Beginning March 17, Reed will portray Madame Morrible, the role created on Broadway by Billy Elliot's Carole Shelley. Reed previously played the role in the Chicago production of Wicked.
The acclaimed actress will join a cast that includes Nicole Parker as Elphaba, Alli Mauzey as Glinda, P.J. Benjamin as The Wizard, Kevin Kern as Fiyero, Alex Brightman as Boq, Cristy Candler as Nessarose and Timothy Britten Parker as Dr. Dillamond.
A Steppenwolf ensemble member, Reed has also appeared Off-Broadway in Steve Martin's Picasso at the Lapin Agile and on Broadway in The Grapes of Wrath and The Rise and Fall of Little Voice..."

fierce. love that BITCH. she's great.
She must really love this show. Good Lord. I love her so much and I'm excited to finally be able to see her in the show.
Ugh, March 17th? I'm in NY the week before and would have loved to see her in the part.
Rondi has said that doing Wicked is the best experience she has ever had.

Rondi is a fantastic Morrible!! Y'all enjoy her in NY!
Yesssssssss! Rondi Reed is FIERCE!! She's the only Morrible I've seen (mind you I'm pretty sure I've only seen one other person...) who I've liked. Good for her!!
She is outstanding in the role. I saw multiple times during her long stint in the Chicago production, and unlike some others who stayed in Wicked forever, her performance was always interesting with different shades and colors every time I saw it.

She's wonderful- in this role and others.
Broadway deserves to see her Morible.
I've seen Carole Shelley, Carole Kane, and Kathy Santen. The best for me were Carole and Kathy.
I actually prefer Carole over Carole as Madame Morrible. No comparison. Seriously.
Now... Rondi Reed -- that's another story.
I am so glad for Rondi! I was able to see her in the role when Wicked was in Chicago. Wishing her the best with the Broadway cast!
Why does Carole Shelley's wig look like it's only halfway on in that photo?
She looks half bald.
I believe in the Grimmerie it said that Morrible's wigs were styled after Elizabeth I and therefore were placed much further back on Carole (as the original they would have modeled them on's) head.
All I have to say is I can't believe it took them this long to get her here.
Carole Shelley had progressively less and less hair as the show went on. It was a choice they made for her.
I'm excited to see Rondi Reed in NY...I saw her once in Chicago and remember enjoying her a lot.
The bad news is, it appears that Aaron is being replaced by Kevin Kern again, if that press release is accurate. Aside from being far too old to play Fiyero, he's just not all that good in the role.

The reason it changes throughout the show is because she felt that as Morrible grows more powerful and "evil", her hair should recede to give her a more menacing physical appearance.

adamgreer, they probably would have announced he was returning in the title or opening paragraph. I have a feeling they never got updated information except for Nicole.
Aww, I a, sad that Jayne Houdyshell won't be there anymore. I adored her portrayal of Morrible.

I thought that too, but it lists the current Nessarose, Cristy Candler. Kevin never performed with Cristy Candler. That list could not have been copied and pasted. Kevin only performed with Brynn O'Malley.
I hope I'm wrong, as his Fiyero is, well, not good at all.

Was Brynn ever on playbill for Nessa?
