With the Jersey Boys rush gone, now Xanadu, Grease, Curtains, and Young Frankenstein, HELL even Deuce, (and i'm not counting the Disney shows or Mamma Mia), are we seeing the end of rush tickets as we know it?
Is it just me, or are Rush tickets actually relatively NEW to Broadway? I don't remember them being around the first time I went in 1991.

Rush as a popular thing bagen with RENT really.
Xanadu is a victim of itself when it comes to rush. They should set aside a certain number of seats, really.

Several Disney shows have/had rush (or SRO, which is fairly equivalent, I guess). Tarzan and AIDA had rush. Mary Poppins has SRO. Mamma Mia! has SRO. Jersey Boys suspended theirs because of a legit problem, right? That's a different story than just not having it without an explanation.
bageb = my new favourite word.

Deuce has rush and SRO, Mamma Mia has SRO, Curtains has SRO, I'm sure Grease will have SRO...
What's "bagen" mean? Is that like when you double bagen-it.
Poor broadwayguy, too much teasing for you! :)
I totally get the Wednesday thing; I've only been home from work a couple of hours and it's already bedtime. I hope Thursday is a lot smoother. ^_^
correct me if im wrong, but every show on Broadway has either a rush/lotto/or standing room, except for SPAMALOT or THE LION KING
i dont know, if going off of Talkin Broadway, haha.
but both of those shows might have standing room, correct me if im wrong again...
Spamalot has SRO. I've stood there before. :)

Spamalot sells standing room even when the show isn't sold out.
bagen
I GET IT! He mixed the 'a' with the 'e'.
yeah, so only THE LION KING doesnt have any kind of rush/lotto/SRO
they do have 51 dollar seats, though, if anyones desperate to see it...
You're a quick one, ljay.
"Tarzan and AIDA had rush"
I did the rush for Tarzan, but Aida didn't have rush, I remember they had $ 20 tix in the balcony, but no student rush, and I remember asking the box office person.
Yes it did. At some point, anyway. Front row. You had to get there really, really early. I remember going at 7 a.m. and finding that there were already more people on line than there were rush seats.
What happened with the Xanadu rush?
See the Xanadu rush thread... But basically they're saying they're sold out for the next few weeks so it's buh-bye to rush.

In all the articles I read about Young Frankenstein and their ticket prices, they did mention 25 dollar orchestra seats, but at certain performances but they never said if it was rush or lotto.
I thought that XANADU's policy was there would be tickets as long as the show isn't sold out, and checking online its not sold out, you can buy onstage tickets for this Saturday.
Logan was told by the box office today that "due to the show selling out for the next few weeks, rush has been temporarily discontinued."
Of course, we're wondering if the red haired woman who's such a witch at the Lunt-Fontanne has moved over to the Helen Hayes. (The woman who was saying there were no $40 tickets for the rest of Beauty's run when there in fact ARE a few ~ or were a few days ago.)
This is the woman with longer strawberry blonde hair that I've dealt with twice.
She's incredibly sweet and last time said that SR was just not on sale until 6pm (as I had arrived earlier).
And there was no real sense of "temporary" in the way she was describing it...
Ah. Muist not be the same woman then. LOL.
Oh well...guess I'll have to start finding other things to do on weekends if rush is going to keep going away.
