Does anyone know how long Ryan McCartan's run in Wicked is?

Posted: 11/7/18 at 10:17amMost principal contracts for Wicked are 6 to 8 months long. He started performances in early summer so he’ll probably be with the show through February or March.

I know that's the general rule of thumb, but with "stunt" casting they usually on come in for a few weeks or 3 months. My daughter loves him and I wanted to get her tickets to see him as a Christmas gift.

As a side note, this foot is broken, so it seems unclear if he'll be in the show the next couple days/weeks...

Last I knew he was only contracted until late spring-early summer but would be gone before July (sorry that's the best I know off of the top of my head), I'll ask him though I'll be visiting my friend at the Gershwin on Sunday.

Considering he is out for the next few weeks due to an injury I doubt you'll be asking him.

Is there a reason Fiyeros seem to always be getting injured? Jon Robert Hall was out for good amount of time because of an injury and Michael Campayno was injured just before his broadway run finished. We can’t forget about what happened to Norbert too.

I think it's a combination of two things: the jumping/swinging around during Dancing Through Life, and the swing-in-on-a-rope entrance in Act 2. Both aren't exactly heavy stunt work, but they're really easy to land funny and that's all it takes to throw out a back or injure a foot/ankle.

Raked stage? Also, there's that stunt where Fiyero flys in on a rope and lands onstage, which could be quite strenuous on your feet and legs.

Does anybody know if he is coming back? They have Jake Boyd as Fiyero right now and even replaced his picture outside the theatre, on the website and on IBDB which they didn't do when Kyle Dean Massey was filling in while he recovered from his first injury.

As nice as he is to look at, in my opinion McCartan was underwhelming in the acting department, even for Fiyero. Perhaps the injury's timing allowed the show and McCartan to part ways quietly (if they were dissatisfied with him). Or maybe his injury is even more severe than Massey's was. McCarten is pretty tall, and all that weight landing 8 times per week can cause a lot of strain (this assumes he doesn't have a pre-show call requiring him to practice the swing and landing prior to each performance).

^ I don't thin Massey was injured and left. His most recent run was covering briefly when Mccartan was initially injured. He was not intended to stay on full time.

Jake is Fiyero through Feb. 10, although it was originally scheduled to end around Jan. 10, I believe. I don't know if Ryan is coming back after this or if there will be a different Fiyero coming in.
