Sooo I jumped on the bandwagon and created one of these videos. Mine is fittingly entitled "Sh*t Broadway Gays Say". If you're any sort of Broadway geek (which I expect from all of you), you'd definitely appreciate this one. Enjoy ... and SHAREcherSHARE!

Posted: 1/19/12 at 12:12pmJust an FYI, things like this border on offensive when they are not funny.

Posted: 1/19/12 at 12:15pmsidenote: I am a Broadway Gay. These are sentences that come out of my mouth on a daily basis. If you find this at all offensive, my apologies! Just trying to bring some humor to the board!

It's always so sad when it doesn't work.
Way too long; barely amusing; sounds like you're reading from a script. I would recommend a do-over. Practice more, try to sound spontaneous, and edit yourself.
The other thing I absolutely LOVE about You Tube is the obsession with "views." Uploaders don't seem to care what people think about their video; only how many people have opened it. Shrinks have to come up with a word for this (if they haven't already).

Posted: 1/19/12 at 12:25pmThanks for the feedback. And yes, I do care what people think, so it's much appreciated. I'll definitely put those suggestions to work if I make another one. Thanks!

I love the perfunctory "thanks! I'll do that if I make another one, though it's pretty clear from this sentence that will never happen but thanks!"
[ Effeminate sing-song voice ] Looooooove iiiiiiiit!
I watched about 50 of these things the other day, and for every one that even approached amusing, about 7 were completely offensive and/or pretty gross.
The most recent one was "Sh!t Twinks Say," which would more aptly be called "Sh!t Shallow Gay Idiots Say." What's even scarier is that it was shared into my Newsfeed by a number of people going, "OMG This is so meeeee (or usssssss)!" But it isn't. I've known these people for years and years. They don't say those things. They don't even say things close to those things. But even in their heads, they've got themselves conforming to this stereotype. I'll never understand the comfort some people have with finding themselves a box to fit into, especially such an unpleasant one.

This should be relabeled "S*** Broadway Gay Extreme Fanboys Say".
I think the "extreme fanboys" part was implied.
At the risk of enciting the villagers, I have to admit I found the clip pretty funny. I'm glad I don't pay too much attention to critics.
Perhaps the problem here is that so many people could easily film their own version, so naturally they are underwhelmed by the efforts of another.
(For the record, yes, I am both gay and a fan of Broadway musicals. No, I don't follow Patti Lupone around the globe like some of my friends do, but how they spend their money is their business.)

Posted: 1/19/12 at 2:26pmI thought it was hilarious......don't let the thin skinners get your goat.....It reminded me of a conversation I overheard the other day at the Westway Diner.....

Posted: 1/19/12 at 2:41pmI thought it was funny, though I don't really find any of these types of videos offensive. I'm pretty easy-going though.

Posted: 1/19/12 at 4:00pmSome of them are funny. Some are really not. I've definitely heard some of the things in the video said in complete seriousness ("[blank]'s performance in [blank] CHANGED MY LIFE!"). It's definitely at least twice as long as it needs to be.

Posted: 1/19/12 at 4:03pmConstructive criticism - I would edit this down to 2 1/2 minutes. Pick your favorites and reeeeeeally trim it down. Some of it was funny but any of these "things...say" videos longer than 2 1/2 minutes or so become boring and redundant.

Posted: 1/19/12 at 7:05pmThanks SO much for all of the feedback, both negative and positive. I do plan on attempting to make another one of these things in the near future, so I appreciate the compliments and criticisms. :)

Posted: 1/19/12 at 8:39pmI thought it was pretty good in parts, but agree with others that it should be shorter. 2-3 minutes seems ideal.

S**t Rancid Gay Guys Say remains my favorite. A tight 2 and 1/2 minutes and a rotating series of people he's talking to in assorted venues. Variety is the spice of life; brevity is the soul of wit.
You've made a good start Myles.

Posted: 1/20/12 at 2:39amI agree with Jordan -- tighten it up and you'll really have something. (If I had a nickel....)

Posted: 1/20/12 at 10:00amThere is no reason to make another one. Some of it was LOL. Just edit it down to the funniest and most salient bits. Possibly the more universal ones (though leave in some of the obscure references just for the in-the-knows). I thought it was some fine, funny work mostly.
