Oh so many songs from Kiss of the Spiderwoman. Molina is one of the great tragic characters of musical theatre.

"I'll Cover You" (reprise) makes me cry every single time I listen to it.
"For Good" from Wicked, because if you've ever lost a close friend you know what they're talking about.
Also, "I Could Write a Book" and "Do You Know What it's Like" from Zanna, Don't
Lastly, "Still Hurting" from The Last 5 Years.

1. Ted Allen: Everyone has an interesting life if you ask the right questions.
2. Great buckets of Spoffnor, they're going to sing!
3. "I love shrubs that are historical." -Johnny and The Sprites
4. "We're not singing it to you, we're singing it for us." -Rosario Dawson, about La Vie Boheme
5. "The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours." -The History Boys
6. "Pass the parcel. That's sometimes all you can do. Take it, feel it and pass it on. Not for me, not for you, but for someone, somewhere, one day. Pass it on, boys. That's the game I want you to learn. Pass it on." -The History Boys

See I don't consider I Hate the Bus to be a sad song. I think when you really analyze it and get past the fact that she is sad when she is singing it, it is a really hopeful and joyous song but on the outside appears sad. I don't know that's just what I got out of it.

Yeah I agree, but the first time I heard it, I wanted to cry because of how perfectly sung it is, and it is about hope, but also the stark reality of how things really are. In that sense, I empathize with and for Emmie as she sings of her hopes and dreams and her actual life.

Oh I agree completely! Caroline made me cry so many times! I was especially touched by the story of Rose and Stuart. Stuart in my opinion is one of if not the most tragic characters in the piece.

Check it out for my pretty lengthy but hardly thorough analysis!

I had a song in mind but needed to track it down, and it turns out that the song that's been running through my head lately - that I haven't thought of in decades - isn't from a stage musical at all, and I'd thought it was. It was a film, but what a film. 1974 "The Little Prince" starring Richard Kiley. Gene Wilder was the Fox, Bob Fosse was the Snake. The score was by Lerner and Loewe. The song that always made me cry was "Little Prince From Who Knows Where?" - Richard Kiley was amazing singing it.
Does anyone know if this was ever done on stage? How about staging it - or doing a revival? In the meantime, I'm going to order it for my library.

14 Dwight Ave, Natick, Mass and The Day The Earth Stopped Turning from Elegies. Also Anytime (I Am There) from said show. All 3 songs had me boo-hooing in the aisles when I saw it in London.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

POTO's finale never, EVER has failed to make me cry. There are just so many emotions running in that last scene...the last time I saw it, Hugh added in an extra cry of "I LOVE YOU!" and ran toward Sandra...and my heart broke. God.
Others:
"Not While I'm Around" - Sweeney Todd
"I Wish I Could Go Back To College" - Avenue Q
"Unworthy of Your Love" - Assassins
Entire final sequence from Bat Boy (especially when Dr. Parker and Meredith start singing together)
"I Don't Care Much" - Cabaret
"Stay With Me" - Into The Woods
"No More" - Into The Woods
"No One Is Alone" - Into The Woods (kind of depressing show, but uplifting at the same time)
"Sailing" - A New Brain (William Finn is amazing)
"Somewhere That's Green (reprise)" - Little Shop of Horrors
I think that's all I can handle right now o.o;;
