"No More"-Into the Woods
two of my favorite songs of all time :)
"No More"-Into the Woods
two of my favorite songs of all time :)
"No two shows are alike in the making. Each show is a living
piece of your life in a small unreal world with its own character
and integrity; its own new set of memorable experiences and
incredible happenings. You begin to love and adapt to its strangeness.
Dreams harden into substance. Values come into focus. You wish
it would never end. The dream world vanishes like mist before a
rising sun; part of you vanishes with it. And back you land in the
real world with a thud- fogged, uneasy, jittery, difficult to get
along with. There is only one cure. A new show. A new, small
unreal world; new visions, experiences, incredible happenings.
Again you love it, adapt to it, wish it would never end.
But end it does. Another part of you vanishes.
That's show business."-Anonymous

"Without You" and I will have to agree with Mistoffeles on "Your Eyes"
Less is more
Ugly is beautiful
"My brother plays a drag queen... and I'm surprised he looks as good as he does in drag." - Adam Rapp
"thanks, abba. now i'll forever have an image of you as a tattoed hardcore straightedge grrl savaging people in the mosh pit." - papalovesmambo
"Yeah Abba. All the filthy crap you spew out there on those boards. I for one, am equally shocked. :-P" - AnnaK

"I Know the Truth" from Aida
"Il Adore" and "Petrified" and most of Act 2 from Taboo
"I'll Cover You: Reprise" from RENT (when sung right)
"In L.A" from Fame
"Come to Me" from Les Miz
"Sacred Bird" from Miss Saigon
"Fine-Fine Line" from Avenue Q
"Raven" from Brooklyn
"There are Worse Things I Could Do" from Grease
"Origin of Love" and Tommy's "Wicked Little Town" from Hedwig
"Somewhere That's Green: Reprise" from Little Shop
"I'm Going Home" from Rocky Horror (Tim Curry only, please. Sorry Tom Hewitt, but you didn't sound near as good at Tim in that song)
All of those songs have made me cry (or at the very least tear up) on more than one occasion. I remember bawling in the theatre when I saw Marcus Paul James sing 'I'll Cover You: Reprise' in Cincinatti earlier this year.

So much of the Secret Garden but especially "Lily's Eyes" and the Quartet.
BSoBW2: I punched Sondheim in the face after I saw Wicked and said, "Why couldn't you write like that!?"

I'm very surprised that no one mentioned "I'll Forget You" from The Scarlet Pimpernel. That song--sung by the wonderful Linda Eder, of course--is a KNIFE in my HEART every single time I hear it.
I'm also voting for "Endless Night" from The Lion King, but maybe I just miss Jason.

For all of the songs already listed that I'm very familiar with I totally agree. However, I'm very surprsed that out of 113 posts I am going to be the first one to post these songs.
To The Lifeboats, We'll Meet Tomorrow and Still From Titanic
and
I Can Hear Music from Leader of the Pack
The Titanic songs make me tear up every damn time, with Leader of the Pack, I think it has more to do with the staging of that song when I saw it, although the song is fairly sad.

Agree with "Still" from Titanic...actually cried in the theater...more than I can say for the movie.
Will add "Il Adore" from Taboo. Didnt like the video montage staging tho. Too much.
Liz McCartney also breaks my heart in "Talk Amongst Yourselves"

In addition to the TITANIC songs mentioned above....I also have to add the finale/reprise of "Godspeed Titanic". The ending scene where the survivors are in front of the screen, and then it rises to show all of the passengers who perished in their same positions from the opening sequence...gave me chills...and to top it off the survivors join them for the rousing finale. I have to admit that I lost it there!
"You pile up enough tomorrows, and you'll find you are left with nothing but a lot of empty yesterdays. I don't know about you, but I'd like to make today worth remembering." --Harold Hill from The Music Man

the way Brian D'arcy James sing the song: What is it about her in the Wild Party, always makes me cry a little.
Norbert Leo Butz quotes about John Lithgow: "He's really clumsy. One of the joys in life is to watch a great big huge man totally wipe out backstage. It takes John about three minutes to hit the floor. It's like watching a Great Sequoia falling gracelessly."

After mentioning this song on "the Best" list, I realized that it should also be on "the Saddest" list.
"Ol' Man River" from Showboat. The song is powerful, and when you put yourself in the characters shoes---definitely VERY moving!
