Posted: 7/10/13 at 1:08pmThey should set this in a circus.

Posted: 7/10/13 at 1:09pmSpeaking of the circus, it appears out broadway guy has left us, as expected. I'm curious what his next screen name will be.

Jordan, I assume he will return as a "man." All grown up. Broadway Man.

Posted: 7/10/13 at 2:16pmI saw the original production and really enjoyed it. I still listen to the cast album. Alice and Emily were great together.

If you can find enough producers who need a loss for their taxes, sure, why not?
It will be hotly anticipated by theater queens and watched by few.

HA love it JoeKv99
Watch it turn into the next revival of Chicago.
First time around a bomb...revive it and it is a success.
Think Side Show was one of those shows that just had poor timing, poor advertising, etc

"Watch it turn into the next revival of Chicago.

The original production of Chicago ran for just over two years, so, while it may have lost money, it was hardly the bomb that some people seem to think it was.

Maybe they should drop a chandelier on the twins' heads this time.
Honestly, I think this is one of those shows like Floyd Collins, where it is appreciated better from a distance, because the subject matter is just too uncomfortable for the masses.
No matter how good it really is.

I don't know if it's even so much as uncomfortable as just so out in left field. Not to mention that what many people walk away remembering is an amazing power ballad called "I Will Never Leave You" sung by conjoined twins. Musto, as quoted by Riedel, is not the only person who heard that and said "Well d'uh!"
I personally do love the show and am glad to see it getting some high profile stagings (I believe this revision actually premieres at La Jolla before coming to D.C.), but really don't think it will fare all that much better on Broadway this time around than it did the first time.

No, it's just a really bad show. Maybe revive for an Encores production, but it's not worth a full production.

Posted: 7/10/13 at 6:34pmThe subject material is a really tough one to sell especially now with prices in the stratosphere

I saw the original and loved it perhaps it would by better to produced it Off Broadway
why MUST everything be levelled at Broadway a lot of shows would do better to stay in an Off Broadway House than moving and closing within a month or two or Some shows should just open and Off Broadway

Saw the original and loved it as well
In addition to the subject matter, it should have opened right before the cutoff date for Tony eligibility instead of months before.

***Spoiler alert***
They need to cut the song where Daisy breaks away from Violet and does that solo number. That's the point in the show where the audience wakes up and thinks "WTF did I miss?"

Posted: 7/10/13 at 7:17pmDon't get me wrong. I think flop shows can be hits the second time around. I am confident this will do as well as the Carrie "revival" did.

Posted: 7/10/13 at 7:31pmCount me in the I love Side Show group. In my opinion it was definitely one of the best original new musicals of the 1990's. I personally adore the score for its mix of gorgeous ballads and catchy old fashioned show tunes. I can't think of another new musical since that had such a strong "traditional score". As for the story and theme I really don't understand what's so "uncomfortable" or "disturbing" about it? Granted, it's not Mamma Mia, but there have been many successful musicals on Broadway that have dealt with even darker themes. Les Mis, one of the most popular hit musicals ever, Next to Normal, Rent etc.
