Maybe would have been a good idea to write a good story BEFORE you build sets and rent a theater, but y'know, that's just me.

This is sort of off-topic, but I don't understand why they made the decision to roll out a new ad that I've seen on the PATH train, saying that the reviews are in. They have a few quotes from different news sources that mostly seem to be praising the technical elements of the show, but they're still presenting it as if it's a show that's open and totally together. Clearly it's not.

I posted in the preview thread that I hope they prove the naysayers wrong and this becomes a hit, but it just isn't looking good. I do find that interesting that they would roll out an ad saying the reviews are in when they aren't. It kind of hints at a bit of desperation. I will possibly see the show in January.

Sweet Jesus. I read that headline, and while on one hand I was thinking "you must be effing kidding me," I am also not surprised. I was talking to someone today who wanted to buy tickets for April and I told him to wait until after 1/11. Let's see if this even opens by the Tony deadline. Sheesh. I am now really afraid of what I am going to see next Wednesday afternoon.

A Facebook friend of mine, some dancer bitch that I went to college with, updated her status with a link to the "60 Minutes" interview, posting that Julie Taymor is what God would be like if God is a woman, and that Taymor is her idol. Someone commented and agreed. I defriended her.

The real question: will they keep running previews? Seems ridiculous since they KNOW this isn't the show they are producing...and they really aren't "testing" anything.

Hmmmm....re-thinking if I will see this next week. (Although I'm going to guess they won't refund my $ at this point.)

Well at least it had good reasoning. Bono and Edge are coming back in the states next week so they can work on the show. If they fix enough it could possibly be a good show.

This is so not cool, they sell the tickets with the presumption it is going to open on a certain date, people buy the tickets for after that date because they do not want to see the show in its preview state, and yet they will not exchange or refund ticket holders. IMO, That is Bullcrap. I understand in theater there is no guarantees but come on already.

Did you try? I'd wait a day and try again. Did you try through telecharge or at the box office (you have to go the same way you purchased the tix originally)

Didn't they give the last delay the opportunity to exchange or refund?

(But I'm with you.....if you can't get what you wanted: the finished product, you should be able to switch. I'd keep talking to higher ups until you get this settled.

I read posts where people are saying they have tickets but not sure if they want to see it now. I say, go. If they fix it and it is a hit, you have seen a hit show. If it tanks in a big way, from that point and for years on you can say you were there just like those who saw Carrie. it sounds like a real mess but I may have a chance to see it in January and if it happens, I am going. It's a no brainer! My hope is still that it fixes its problems and succeeds.

seriously they won't return tickets? I bought 12 for my nephews for a January performance. I can't return if the show isn't officially opened?

But for folks that bought tix AFTER the supposed opening...they bought tickets expecting to see a FINISHED product. They should be allowed to still do that.

Even though I bought my ticket KNOWING it was in previews....I would not have expected MAJOR changes to still be taking place (after all, it should have opened only two weeks later). I would have expected only minor things a week before the press came in. Do I want to see a show that is ADMITTING to re working the ending? I should be able to see the version of the show I WANTED to see.

(And I'm not all that interested in exchanging my ticket...but I can see how others would be.)

You don't end a $70 million show on the line "go get 'em tiger." That has got to be the lamest and most fakakta way to end a show ever in the history of show endings.

I am not sure if they offered exchanges or refunds to those who had tickets for set performances or just offered the option for a refund or exchange to those whose shows were cancelled.

When I bought my tickets at the Box Office, the person a head of me asked for refund to a performance in January but was told no exchanges or refunds. I did not hear the beginning of the conversation, only when it started to get loud, so maybe there was more to the story. I did hear him say the show was supposed to be out of previews by then.

I do like to see a show in previews and then again after it opens to see what changes where made. So bought tickets to a preview performance at the end of the month and a ticket for a show in February, thinking it would have opened. I will bring that ticket with me to see if they will change it for a later date, guess I should aim for later in the spring.

It's interesting to me that -- despite your very legitimate-sounding complaints, such as a crappy book and a lousy score -- so many of you seem determined to see it at least once if not more. Why is that, I wonder? The curiosity factor? The buzz? Perhaps there really is no such thing as bad publicity.
