I meant Jodie Comer. And my point was that she’s not a big name by any means but yet her show is selling well. So who knows how this could go? Chastain is a giant name and her show is selling well but by no means some mega hit.
Oh! Well that makes more sense than David Cromer :)
I'd be fascinated by an alternate reality in which PRIMA FACIE opened cold in NYC instead of playing London first. I agree she's not a mega star –– probably similar name value of Jeremy Strong –– but I think much of its recent financial success is coming from the "MUST-SEE, role of a lifetime" reviews.

I can't stand Sam Gold. He's just an "Enfant Terrible" like Ivo Van Hove, just trying to see how much abstract crap he can get away with and still consider himself "edgy". His Othello with Daniel Craig was tolerable, but pretty much everything else I've seen of his has bordered on hysterical. His Hamlet at the Public with Oscar Issac was an embarrassment. His Lear was a mess. Don't get me started on the Scottish play. What people, stars, and critics see in him is utterly mystifying as he destroys play after play. I wouldn't be surprised if Jeremy Strong came out wearing a Mohawk haircut.
I'm bad at gaging this sort of thing, but I get the sense that Succession is more popular now than it was when Great Society was on Broadway. Does that assessment seem accurate to others?

I'd say so. The Great Society opened around the time the second season was ending, and while it was popular from the jump the show hadn't quite become the huge phenomenon it currently is in general and Jeremy Strong in particular hadn't become singled out until after that.
I get it’s a huge success but maybe no one in my circle watches it. Like I know of the show but I don’t feel like the cast has crossed over to being in the culture zeitgeist just yet.

I don't know how cultural zeitgeist status is determined, but many major papers (Washington Post, new York Times, The Guardian) do detailed recaps and analyses the day after every episode airs and New York Magazine online right now probably has a half-dozen articles about different aspects of last night's show. Not a lot of shows get that treatment.

Looking forward to dates so I can make plane reservations (we only get to New York every couple of years). And casting of course, and theatre—Hudson?

Interesting casting news. Looking forward to hearing about the rest of the cast. Hopefully Sam Gold won't be his own worst enemy this time.

Perdetti is a disappointing addition. IMHO she ruins everything she’s in, including You and The Haunting of Bly Manor.

And it's Pedretti

LOL, gotta love a troll comment. She is a fantastic actor and a standout in both of those projects.
Was looking forward to Strong, but excited to see Pedretti on stage.

Jeremy Strong > Jodie Comer, it's not even funny.
One's considered the spiritual successor to Al Pacino and is widely beloved by online experts and the industry. The other's a flash-in-the-pan who constantly overacts out the wazoo and is only getting roles because of her beauty.

Anyone else get their tickets for the premiere?

Mega hit in its circles but the everyday person doesn’t know Comer. I stand by what I said. Having now binged Succession I’m excited to see how this does!
Telecharge lists the run time as 2 hours, no intermission, but with a 5 minute pause.

Mega-hit in its circle is all that is needed for a limited run coming in with rave reviews for the central performance. She has very devoted fans, the kind that turned out for her in droves.

Exactly! And if even 1 out of 100 people who watched SUCCESSION bought a ticket to ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, they could sell out Circle in the Square for a 6 month run.

Instead of ending with Ibsen’s image of a lonely, heroic truth-teller, she changed it. And it isn’t the first time she’s boldly revamped his work.
Was this known or will it be more like A Doll's House ending ?

Yeah, but given the way it is selling, unless Sam Gold derails it, it can definitely extend if Strong has the time and desire.
