Would you give it a rest already? You've been spreading rumors about closing dates on THREE shows -- and you are wrong on all of them. GAFL"
And its usually couched in a non-committal flim-flam kinda way for deniability. "Lotta ppl are saying...." A December 22 is floating around---by you and your friend? Sure, maybe. Thats hardly relevant to the rest of us.
Seems utterly insane for producers to be thinking of closing a show on Christmas Eve before reviews have even come out, is what I heard floating around.
I saw both shows on Sunday's final preview. I loved the show, even more on second viewing. The singing, the sound quality, and the stagecraft are all just so beautiful. For anyone considering it, I'd note that front mezzanine seats were perfect, better than orchestra H where I sat for the second show.
Broadwayworld seems to think tonight is Tammy Faye’s opening and not Swept Away.
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

Feels like a cast recording is very much needed for this.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Haven't seen this in NY yet, but it seems like nothing was changed from DC to Broadway.
Out of town, Adrian Enscoe was far and away the best performance of the bunch. Managed to create a coherent and sympathetic character despite the incredibly thin book.
Even rear center Mezz is great. The overhang of the balcony doesn't block anything.
