Sara Bareilles, Rebel Wilson to lead THE LITTLE MERMAID at Hollywood Bowl — Page 2

So, it's a concert AND a screening with the Broadway songs? And Chorus Line is happening? That makes sense.
Posted: 4/6/16 at 12:12pm
Plus it's opening with a medley of his hits from his other shows. So great way to showcase people.

does it make sense? it seems a little strange and convoluted now that I know the whole story. they should just do the songs from the show if they're getting these big stars (even though I never became a fan of most of the new songs besides She's in Love). this whole thing is weird now.

Bizarre.

I'm weirdly excited for this. Darren is perfect for Prince Eric! Didn't know Rebel could sing though... (Or can she?)
Also Darren is 29 for those wondering but looks quite young when he's clean shaven.

Agreed.
The Little Mermaid as a stage musical is crap.
EDIT: Just went back a couple of posts. It's not the crappy stage musical being done. It's a screening of the classic Disney film with it's score being played by a live orchestra. The performers will be doing a mini-concert of the film's songs "in character".

This got a whole lot less exciting

I'm disappointed. I thought this was gonna be staged.

The whole thing just feels and sounds random.

This is actually standard Hollywood Bowl fare (movie screening with live orchestra and select performers). What makes it disappointing is the desire to see a staged version, especially with some members of the OBC involved.

I assumed that was precisely why they cast Criss.

I thought it was kind of obvious that it wasn't going to be staged.

IDK Darren's voice, with its pop sensibility, should be well suited to this.

its gonna be a blast. whats there not to understand?
haters gonna hate

I may be in the minority but I LOVE shows where a live orchestra and singers accompany a film. I actually think events like this one should be done more often. And as many have said, I do think the cast is delightfully inspired. This is one of the few times I wish California was close by!

so someone who finds this event "bizarre" or questions the casting is now a 'hater'? excuse me while my eyes roll back inside my head...

Presale now on sale, use password VOICE. I snagged some box seats to this, but all sections seem to be on sale.

Pricey concert, but I got tickets in the superseats and am looking forward to June 4. I don't know if was mentioned, but for those wanting to see the stage version the first Los Angeles production is playing at the same time in La Mirada, Tim McCoy and Cathy Rigby's theatre, about a half hour south of downtown L.A. - June 3 - 26.

How much were Super Seats, StageDoor3? I tried to look but got tired of refreshing.
Posted: 4/7/16 at 6:08pm
I just got mine. I love sitting in section E because it's closest to the stage without having to sit in those boxes (going alone) AND the stage door is on the left side. Yes, you can stage door. I do it every single time. Can't wait.

This is going to be cool! I've never been to the Hollywood Bowl, and it will be great to hear the score performed live with some really talented performers. They also have "West Side Story" being screened with Gustavo Dudamel conducting the LA Philharmonic this season, plus the staged "A Chorus Line."

I got 7th row section H which I believe are super seats. They were $105 plus service charge. I didn't want to spring for a box seat as much as I would prefer to. And I like section E too, but Ticketmaster didn't let you pick your seats as you know. They picked for you and I basically just went for a decent seat in the section they kept giving me. All of us Broadway World chat board members who are going should meet up somehow. And can you really stagedoor performers at the Bowl?
Posted: 4/8/16 at 1:28pm
Yes, you can stage door. I did it for the musicals: Chicago, Hair, Spamalot, and Idina Menzel (waited 2 hours with 7 other people) I just kept refreshing it till it gave me section E lol. In total, I paid around $89. We should totally meet. I'm going to turn 20 a month before.. So hope it's not weird.
