I have no clue if they're even interested in the transfer at all (I heard hearsay that part of the reason Dead Outlaw took so long was because of red tape with Audible), but I just thought it was a coincidence that someone started talking about the idea of a transfer right before an appropriate theater suddenly opened up."
Sometimes a banana is just a banana."
Oh I don't think it means anything, just got me hoping wistfully for a "what if" situation.

This could work at the Hayes or the Booth, anything else would be a disaster

The show is teasing some kind of announcement on Instagram.
Seems like it might be transferring to Broadway just not sure where when.
Wonder how this could fare as a commercial Off-Broadway run. Has it lost any of its momentum like TEETH did?
This could also just be a cast album or Audible streaming announcement.

The only Broadway possibility right now would be the Booth for 8-10 weeks since they freed up after LBRR closed early, and they’d be out in time for Proof to come in. Any other theatre larger than the Booth is pretty much a death sentence since the show is so heavily focused on the soundscape created by the live looping.
In an ideal world, this could go into the Booth or the Music Box and then Proof or Giant would get bumped to the Jones since neither would have trouble selling out those houses.
Maybe Audible learned their lesson with Dead Outlaw to strike while the iron is hot.

Is the iron hot though? Even with rave reviews this show was struggling to fill seats towards the end of it's run in a very small theater, this would clearly be a play for awards with the season still being so weak
even if it got in an out of the booth in 8 weeks, is that enough time to get TONY voters in ect ect?
The last two weeks of performances were virtually sold out. The beginning was a bit of a struggle, but by the end, much like Dead Outlaw, word of mouth spread quickly and it became a hot ticket.
My counterpoint would be if they can get Tony voters in and out in 4-6 weeks for BUG at MTC, they can certainly do the same for MEXODUS. With nothing coming this winter, there’s more than enough time. Granted, they would literally need to announce tomorrow and start performances in two weeks. Considering it’s a minimal set with projections, anything is possible. We got EVERYDAY RAPTURE in 10 days back in 2010.
The main reason to enter a new musical this season is to take advantage of the incredibly weak Best Musical field. But if you can’t actually run to and past the Tonys because of theatre scheduling, then what’s the point?
An off-Broadway run seems far more likely. If it sustains, it could propel a transfer next season.
Sources telling me now that Barack Obama will have a peaceful transfer of power in Union Square…

Couldn’t this theoretically go into the Jones? Another two-person musical did quite well there a few years ago.

fear of 13 is going in the Jones
what would be accomplished by making a lateral move of moving this off-broadway?

…giving it an extended commercial run in an appropriately-sized venue?

…That was also largely Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells’ big reunion 11 years after BoM, boosted by a nightly rotating guest star. Hardly comparable.
