Haven't yet seen a post about the rush tickets for SoR. Anyone have any details? Where are the seats? How early have people been getting there? How many do they sell? Etc.

Well they just announced the rush yesterday, so... Previously they had a lotto.
Here is the Playbill article: http://www.playbill.com/news/article/broadways-school-of-rock-now-offering-rush-tix-for-all-performances-375745

Is this in addition to or replacing the lottery? The article doesn't make that detail clear.

Replacement I would assume. I've personally have never known a show to have both (except some shows with online lottos)

I saw a tweet, it might have been Sierra or even SoR RTed by Sierra saying that it was the last chance to enter the lottery and a link to an article about the rush, so I assumed it was replacing the lottery just from that tweet.
I think shows usually switch to a rush from a lotto when the demand isn't high enough to justify a lottery. If everyone (or almost) wins anyway might as well just give them all tickets... and make it a rush.
The seats will probably be the same, i.e. whatever they have left and no seats specifically put aside. But if anybody actually rushes it, I'd love to hear actual feedback. Since rush technically is in the morning, what seats do they give away? Do they maybe keep Orch seats in hopes to sell them during the day for full-price? (vs. the lottery being only 2h before the shows and lower chance to still sell at full price)

Rush starts today at a price of $37, compared to the $25 lottery price. Yesterday they said the lottery may be brought back after the holiday season sometime in January. I'm guessing holiday traffic is too high in the area for a lottery the next few weeks, so perhaps the rush is a temporary thing.

This all seems sketchy to me. It's like: "Let's temporarily suspend our lottery but increase our price by $12 and see if people show up to pay that. If not, let's bring back the lottery."

GreasedLightnight, did you happen to be following the other thread about the School of Rock lotto?
In it, we were talking about how they kept canceling the lotto because the didn't set any seats aside, and the show was selling out. So really it was their old policy that was sketchy and frustrating. I think that's the main reason they switched. I think they figure it makes a little more sense to have a rush based on availability (like many shows do) than to have a lotto based on availability. The $37 price matches that of the lotto loser tickets that they sometimes sold.

If you see the thread I already had posted about lottery my theory is that they sold front row during the holidays but would go back to reserving it for lottery in January as I didn't see it on sale.
Not sure why they can't just explain it more clearly to everybody ![]()

Okay so I was first at 8:45. Next guy at 9:15. Next group of friends at 9:55. Everyone easily got tickets. However, the tickets are in the very last row of the mezzanine, and people behind us are on the sides. My theory is that they're selling so well they wanted to get full price money for front row, and instead give away the weaker seats to rush/for cheap.

I'm surprised you got last row mezzanine for rush today. I rushed yesterday at 3p and got Orchestra full view seats in row J for $37. I was going to come on here and recommend it for everyone because it was amazing. I have to say there were a lot of empty seats. I'm thinking today's seats were not as good because they're expecting a lot more people for a Friday night. During the week is probably much better. By the way, the show was AMAZING!!!! Too bad it won't win any Tonys against Hamilton.

Just picked up a ticket for tonight Orchestra row L two seats off the wall. Apparently they start their Saturday night shows at 730....

Sounds like Rush has been available throughout most of the day?

cimclaughlin10, did you really? I showed up to the box office at 12 PM looking for one rush ticket for the night show and was told that they were sold out of rush and SR wouldn't be offered until 30 minutes before the performance. Bizarre...

This seems to be terribly inconsistent and weird. They must just be throwing away a few select random seats they have laying around on the day of...

She didn't answer me right away after I asked. She asked someone else in the box office if rush tickets were still available Usually if it is a seat they actually held for rush, the attendant can give you an answer right away or spend afiew seconds on the computer I think it was just a single seat they knew they wouldent be able to sell... It was definetly partial view

We were in line 935 Saturday (probably 5th or 6th in line) then when we got to the booth, the attendant said there were no more rush tickets for the evening show. We got three tickets for the matinee show - all separate seats but good seats - 1 front row, 1 second row, 1 fourth row center mezzanine.

Checked at 2:20 and Rush was sold out. They had standing room and $145 seats.

That sounds very confusing and inconsistent. Almost sounds as if they are deciding on the spot if they are giving you a rush ticket or not... i.e. depending on how sales are going at the particular time you're asking for it... and you might even have a better chance later in the day because they might hold on to good seats at 10am, hoping to sell them for full price, vs. 5pm when it's less likely? Oi...

Agreed. It would seem if that's their strategy it would make more sense to offer rush and/or standing room (if sold out) 2 hours prior to curtain.

Yes, and that would be so much more convenient anyway! If I want to rush a show on a work day I have no option of being at the BO at 10am...

Yes, it seems that trying later in the day is the best way to go for the show. I now feel lucky I got my rush tickets when I did. Definitely worth it.

Going tomorrow with friends we are thinking about getting there round 8:30. Would that be a good time to get there and still have a shot at getting tickets?
