Such a great line-up of singers, I will definitely be buying this CD!
Thanks Popular!
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
Quite an amazing cast. And I LOVE Scott Alan's music. I can't wait to get it.
"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife
Among those who will be heard interpreting Alan's tunes are Shoshana Bean, Stephanie J. Block, Liz Callaway, Danny Calvert, Eden Espinosa, Jonathan Groff, Jackie Hoffman, Cheyenne Jackson, Carly Jibson, Adriane Lenox, Shayna Steele, Josh Strickland, Tracie Thoms, Katie Thompson and Jill Zadeh.
Does anyone else find it strange that Jason Robert Brown also has a song called "Dreaming Wide Awake?"
"I am a camera with its shutter open, quite passive, recording, not thinking...someday all of this will have to be developed, carefully printed, fixed." - Christopher Isherwood
Does anyone out there have any proof that "Detour" mentioned in the article ever existed in LA?
This is like the third article to mention it being sold out, etc... I just can't find that it ever existed here in LA. No past reviews or calendar listings... very strange.
Did anyone see it in LA? I can't imagine I would miss seeing or hearing about a show here in LA that was a sold out hit for 10 weeks in a small theater. One would assume to that it would run longer if it was so successful and sold out.
I hope it is a good cd. Seems like he has been trying to put one out forever now.
Lauren sang the song on her album "Songs of Jason Robert Brown."

I'm so looking forward to the Birdland concert... hoping Block, Hoffman & Strickland sign up to appear too. But as long as we have S. Alan & C. Jackson I'm good

To be perfectly honest, I was a little underwhelmed by the CD. I prefered the orchestrations on the sample CD of Piece as well as other pieces I have heard prior to this release.
listening to the samples of the songs on CDBaby make me nervous about ordering it. the clips don't sound particularly good. and i AM a fan of all of the singers. i just don't like what they are singing...
CDBaby just got additional stock in. They were sold out for a few weeks-I wrote to Scott at his website and he gave me the heads up that they would have more shortly-seems like a nice guy. I love the CD!!

and shake the nation,
we'll eat the dust of the world,
wondering why...why?"
"I should have the final list of performers by the end of this week. Sadly, Katie Thompson had to pull out of the evening since her own show will be making a debut out in Los Angeles, but Carly Jibson, who duets with Jackie Hoffman on At Seventeen, will be singing 'Say Goodbye' in her place and I know she is going to rock it out. Carly's voice is unbelievable. I am also excited to announce that Shoshana Bean will also be joining us for the evening as well. As of right now, that means, Shoshana Bean, Stephanie J. Block, Eden Espinosa, Liz Callaway, Jonathan Groff, Carly Jibson, Adriane Lenox and Cheyenne Jackson will be joining us. Remember, there will be a CD signing afterwards. If you don't own the actual cd, we will be selling them at the venue after the show, so no worries. Please note: Only actual CD's will be signed."
I don't like it. Bland and boring. Great singers, but they can't overcome this horrible material. It's just bad pop song after pop song. Horrible lyrics and not a good melody in the bunch.
I personally liked the CD However I do think that some of the recordings that he had on his website before the CD came out were better than the ones that made there way to the CD. I really think he has a lot of promise as a composer though. "Never Never Land" is one of the best new songs I have heard in a long time
