if rumors are true that a certain play that opens this week, that has already posted a closing notice backstage, will close if they don't get strong reviews. We shall see...

I'd be disappointed for a show to close already. If anything, Million Dollar Quartet shouldn't even happen.
Were they referring to The Miracle Worker? If so, The Scottsboro Boys still wouldn't have a theatre...
The only plays that open this week are Miracle Worker, and Behanding in Spokane.

Why do you say that?

Is it not true that virtually all shows have a "closing notice" up at their opening? And not getting strong reviews doesn't necessarily mean a quick fold - it's not getting strong ticket sales that does a show in. (And we all know shows that did NOT get strong reviews yet had very profitable long runs!)

Okay, so if Miracle Worker tanks, all the Scottsboro Boys have to do is re-stage to play in the round? Which as everyone here knows from all the complaints about poor Worker, is like falling off a log? Although at least the venue would be the right size!
I mean they could redesign the stage for it to be a thrust stage like when Spelling Bee played there.
I mean, weren't there rumors about Title Of Show taking the Circle In The Square after their run at The Vineyard?
I mean I guess I could see it happening but I really doubt it.
They could put that theatre back into an endstage arrangement in 2 days if they wanted to. It doesn't need to stay in the round.
With a thrust stage, Scottsboro would shine. I think this is a lovely idea!
I don't know how bad the reviews were for Miracle Worker but i doubt it will close in a week.
The reviews aren't out yet as the show opens tomorrow.
Hasn't MIRACLE WORKER been pulling in close to 80-90% each week? Those hardly seems like the kind of numbers to warrant a provisional closing notice.
Remember that the seating % now includes all papered seats as well. Last week, the show only made $164,830 for 8 performances. That's not a lot, especially considering that they have some major salaries to play (Breslin, Morrison, and Modine can't be that cheap).
bjh, you're right. I can never seem to remember that since they changed it!

Variety reported a few days ago that The Miracle Worker will offer three curtains at 7pm because the show is getting a lot of families.
I can't seem to find the article though.
You people slay me.
You have decided to close one show, and transfer another show to Broadway before either show has opened and before reviews for either show have appeared.
The venom on this site, as well as the spewing of false rumors has become pretty outrageous.
I really don't think anybody is spewing venom here or secretely lighting candles in a vodoo ritual to bring down The Miracle Worker. The truth is, we all hang out on these boards because we love the art form that is live theater. Part of that passion is speculating about what happens next. I think its pretty natural when you love something to make predictions. It's the same with college football or whatever you're into as a person.
