Seeing Newsies again

Seeing Newsies again#1

I saw Newsies when it first opened with the original cast. I am in New York again and could see it tomorrow night - Monday. It seems to be on Tkts for half price most days. I have tickets for new shows the rest of the week. But there is nothing else I would want to see on Monday. Is it a good idea to see something you really liked with an almost entirely different cast. Or is it best to just have the memory of a great show and not take a chance with not liking this cast. I have not had this opportunity before and I know many of you see some shows multiple times, so I respect your opinions. Thanks

I think for this, you should preserve the memory of the one time you saw it. I went a few months ago after going in previews, and the cast, including the lead Corey Cott, just seemed SO bored and over it, it really affected my enjoyment of the show.

If you're really curious to see a new take on it, you should see it. About five of the newsboys are in the same track as they started at the beginning of the run, but you would have different leads than who you saw before except for John Dosset as Pultizer.

They have $30 rush now so you might want to check at the box office before you try TKTS. The earlier you go to the box office, the better seats you'll get.

I would pass on this. I saw the show for a third time (one with original cast, twice with new) a few months ago and never need to see it again. It's just pretty boring and the replacements aren't good. Liana Hunt is terrible and I'm not a fan of Corey in this role.

Speaking of… has anyone done the newly announced rush? Are people lining up early/are they giving better or generally the same seats they gave for lottery? I'd also like to go back someday soon and was wondering what the differences were since the changeover.

Bumping this to see if anyone has done or seen a rush line for a Friday evening. My group is thinking about trying to rush Newsies this Friday night but I haven't seen anything on the rush report for how early people typically line up for an evening show. And are tickets sold one hour before the show?

Skip it...Not the same show without many of the originals. I am not a fan of Corey at all.

Hmm yeah that's what the rest of the posters seem to be saying too. I've just never seen the show before but I love the music, so I'm still interested in seeing it. I'm only in New York for one weekend, so is the current cast so boring that you'd recommend seeing it for the first time on tour this fall instead?

Yeah, I have to agree with a lot of the posters on here as well. I LOVED the show when I first saw it, but now the whole cast (except for a few) seems bored of the show and it effected the show the 2nd time I saw it.
