i LOVE that theyre paying homage to the original set rather than trying something new. looks great to me!
However, that implies that the original Tommy Tune staging is going to be essentially restaged. While I liked some aspects of it in performance, others left me cold, and I responded better to the staging of the 2003 revival with Banderas than to Tune's staging.
Plus, this version was announced as using some of Yeston's changes from the movie, including one or two of his new songs. My money is on Guarda La Luna replacing the Waltz from Nine, as they're the same song with a vocal part added, and the never-before-heard trio version of Take It All that was cut from the film. I doubt Cinema Italiano will make it onto the stage.

Me wants to steal
I hope Luisa is given some mobility in this production. My biggest pet peeve with Tune's conceptual staging is that Luisa never or rarely moves, and remains singing out at the audience or turning to talk to Guido throughout the show. Even when she finally sings "Be On Your Own," she stands and sings out at the audience, motionless, not even facing or interacting with Guido.
Hey, it could be worse: Luisa could be gang-raped at a 40s style noir bar (with men in anachronistic black wifebeaters, of course) on a soundstage (?) and then pull off her top to end the song, even if the song isn't over yet.
As I said, it could be worse...

Looking forward to seeing this. I never saw it on B'way and have not seen the movie, so I will have nothing to compare it to. I have seen other shows at WBT and most are very good and enjoyable.
Yeah. Save that for the inevitable "Take It All" trio. But nothing annoys me more than parkin' and barkin' in a dramatic moment. She could at least look at Guido or move her hands and arms, rather than stand like a wax statue and sing beautifully looking straight out.
Has a cast been announced yet? The bar for Guidos is pretty high, with all 3 notable Guidos being film and stage A-listers- Raul Julia, Daniel Day Lewis, Antonio Banderas.
And the Saraghina better kick serious ass now that Fergie has famously sung the hell out of the otherwise borderline-throwaway part.
