When I’ve seen it, it always sounds to me like people are laughing with discomfort and surprise, like, “She said WHAT?” rather than finding it “funny-ha ha.” More like funny-uncomfortable."
When I saw the Sharon D Clarke Caroline in London I do not think there was a laugh there.

I was at the matinee on 12/26 and at first, was a bit disappointed when I got the email that SDC would be out since going back to see it again isn't viable for me. Sharon Brown blew me away though. I knew Lot's Wife is the big moment in the show, but I wasn't prepared for how emotional she made it. She got a standing ovation for at least a minute once it was over. I'd love to see her again in pretty much anything.

Just wanted to say I am braving the COVID cases and decided to get a rush ticket to see Sharon Brown in this show tonight before it closes. Double masked and very excited!

I’m so sad I couldn’t get to the theatre today to see Sharon one more time, she’s just incredible. Really hoping an audio or video of her Lot’s Wife finds its way online.

I am still recovering from the absolute MASTERCLASS I just received from Sharon Catherine Brown in this role. She was unbelievably incredible and surpassed every expectation. Her “Lots Wife” was stunning and powerful, and the audience gave her a standing ovation. She looked moved to tears during bows but seeing as how it was her last show I’m assuming a lot of people came out to support her. The entire cast was just on fire tonight. I will severely miss this show after it closes next week.

Still processing the magic I just saw! Never have I been to a show with a long standing ovation after the 11 o clock number. Sharon Brown's rendition of "Lot's Wife" was absolutely breathtaking. The way it throttled my emotions so quickly... unbelievable. Then the radio coming out with the rain pouring down... one of the most outstanding sections of theater I've ever experienced. The energy in the room was so palpable and loving. This was one that everyone in the audience will remember the rest of their lives. PERIODT!

Love these cheers for Brown! When was the last time a standby got raves and standing Os ever night?

Brown was thrilling; somehow she turned "Lot's Wife" into "And I'm Telling You..." and it didn't feel indulgent, but rather a huge outpouring of bottled emotions finally being release via an enormous voice. Clarke may have the slight edge as an actor, if only because her performance feels slightly more lived in due to her having a few years with the character. Vocally, though, this is how I've always wanted to hear the score sung.
This was my second time and I'm still not a fan of certain directorial/design choices. I think some of the staging is too busy, especially the stuff in the laundry room with The Washing Machine moving all over the place. And poor Samantha Williams spends the majority of the show running around the stage which is a detriment to her otherwise solid performance.
However, I love this show and am so thankful to have a Broadway revival. Agree with Scott Stephen above that everyone was on their A game this evening. Levy is really doing some interesting things with a complicated character. I wonder if we had a last minute Noah switch as Makke was listed in the insert and cast board, but an announcement was made Amoroso would be going on after what felt like a held curtain.

Have to echo the raves.
I found Brown to be superior to Clark, honestly. Caroline will always belong to Tonya in my mind, but damned if Brown isn’t a worthy successor.
She brought the house to its feet after “Lot’s Wife,” and deservedly so. What an electric performance. I’m very happy I made the effort to see her take on the role.
And shoutout to Gabriel Amoroso, who clearly went on for Noah at the very last minute and was sensational.

As someone who was not a huge fan of Sharon D Clarke's interpretation, I'm floored by Sharon Catherine Brown. Stunning and individual.
