I was watching the video of the making of the CD and Shoshana mentioned it was going to be on CDbaby.com which also does digital downloads for the same price as Itunes offers for an album. I went there and I found it funny that they were offering the CD as the disc itself but when it came to the digital download it wasn't there.
I'm waiting for the digital download too!
It says on her facebook that itunes messed up, and now it will be available on Thursday.

Is it at Virgin? It sounds VERY good--unlike anything I've heard from any other Broadway stars--it has potential to actually be played on the radio! Kudos to Shoshana!
I just downloaded it and am loving it. It's great. A whole new side to her. I can see this being very successful permitting it gets some radio play.
...Am I the only one who thinks it's really bad? There's such a thing as well-crafted pop music, and this really, really isn't it. Then again, I've never been a huge Shoshana fan, but this just sounds like a really mediocre attempt at R&B. There's something about it that just feels so fake and forced, too, like she's trying so desperately to be something she's not, and it feels inauthentic.

OK--listening to it again... it doesn't really sound like her to me. I mean, it's kinda fun--but I feel like there isn't much depth to a lot of the music... :-/
Not a bad CD, but after listening to a few songs.. kind of shallow sounding.
You changed your opinion that quickly over something an Orfeh fan said? Really?
I have listened to songs from it and there are a few i like, but over all i am disappointed :/
her singing is good, i just dont like the songs

Let me preface this by saying that I love pretty much all things Sho. I just find it very interesting in the title track.. the chorus music is the main theme to the 1980s movie Conan the Destroyer.
Anyone else hear this at all?
*if you go to THAT site.. and type in Conan the Destroyer theme just fast forward to the 1:37 mark.*

An "Orfeh fan"? LOL, um...no. I was a fan of pop music in general long before I even knew who Orfeh was. My favorite artist is Prince, the KING of well crafted dance-pop music. And I grew up in the age where well-crafted dance-pop was prevalent, the Spice Girls, Nobody's Angel, etc. etc. I like Orfeh BECAUSE she made the kind of music I was already very into, not the other way around.

I've only listened to previews--but after a second preview and listening to the actual lyrics... that changed my mind. Don't get me wrong--I still plan on buying it to support Shoshana (and I do love Superhero). Anyone know if it's at Virgin?
Did I say that Orfeh was the first artist you ever liked? In any case, some of the people here who are big into Orfeh have a bit of a history of trashing Shoshana. I apologize if your criticisms were sincere.

Well, I don't know about other people, but I don't have anything against Shoshana. I've seen her at a lot of benefits and concerts and have never really been blown away, but, I don't hate her or make it a point to trash her by any means. I enjoy pop music, ESPECIALLY pop with heavy r&b influences, and thus, I gave Shoshana's cd a chance. I was very disappointed in it. That's all.
Also, I know she's known for her riffing, but there is a point where it becomes "too much", and where just singing the melody is actually more pleasing to the ear.

What I find interesting in this album is, you would never guess she's done two Broadway shows (and will sell CD's due to that fan base). I don't own every solo album from every artist who "started" on Broadway, but, if you listen to Julia Murney's, Idina Menzel's, Ellen Greene's albums (just to name a few, I know there are tons more) you can tell that these are theatrical singers.
This is neither a good thing or a bad thing; I just find it interesting that "Superhero" comes off as a B-level R&B album. And, B-level isn't an insult to Shoshana or her debut. I like the album, I love a lot of her vocal work, it's just not a brilliant debut. That's not to say she won't have a future in recording, she has an amazing versatility to her voice.
I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys great singing and some decent r&b/pop hooks.

I am getting more and more into pop and R&B. I did hear a couple of tracks that she had posted on her myspace music page and I did like what I heard. I do plan on getting the album. And who knows. I might be surprised. I remember when Menzel's album came out I swore to myself that I wasn't going to get it because I wasn't into pop. I ended up killing time before going to see Wicked at Virgin the day that she was doing the signing there and they were playing her CD in the store and I actually ended up liking it and then buying it and I am enjoying it very much. The same thing could happen with Shoshana's CD. I guess only time will tell.
I've ordered the album, a few days ago now I think, so I'm hugely looking forward to getting a proper listen. I ordered it from Dollypop or whatever it's called - I'm in the UK, any idea how long it will take?
From what I've heard so far, I'm impressed. It's beyond what I expected - a typical performer turned recording artist effort, a la Idina Menzel etc (which I did enjoy to a certain degree) - and it showcases her raw talent and musical style.
It feels organic, what she's written/singing she has experienced. Obviously songs such as 'Superhero' are aimed at being crowd pleasing anthems, then it jumps to an Aretha Franklin cover, then to an emotional song of her deceased boyfriend.
This is fantastic on one hand, it's showing how versatile and talented she is...but perhaps its too theatrical for general audiences? They respond to somewhat bland, generalizing pop ballads about love and heavy based club anthems.
Granted, Shoshana probably isn't expecting or maybe even aiming for mainstream success...but if she wants to hit the big time, she will probably need to decide whether 'selling out' and getting big record companies involved is what she wants.
She has beyond the talent required for major success, but that doesn't mean she will get it. The world isn't fair, especially the entertainment industry.
I love Shoshana, something about her feels so likeable, her talent speaks for itself and she seems to have truly found content by achieving what she always wanted to do...so mad props to her! Good luck!
Shoshana's album is #8 on iTunes r&b charts right now.
Good to hear Theaterdude! She is absolutely amazing and deserves all the success she gets!!!
