Something that even as a pro non-eq tour person I am still VERY much against. what were some shows that did this? The Wedding Singer and The Music Man are the first ones that come to my mind.

I think that the Susan Stroman/Trevor Nunn production of "Oklahoma" was non-Equity on it's tour

The Wedding Singer
and
Dirty Rotton Scoundrels in Fort Lauderdale were both non equity.
People bought this as the Broadway Series. They were both woefully badly produced and non equity.

It's called duping the public.

But the people in fort Lauderdale got to pay Broadway Prices! Weren't they lucky.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' first national tour was definitely equity.

The Music Man revival was a first national non-eq. It caused a huge problem.

Other than that, did you enjoy the play Mrs Lincoln?

Not the Fort Lauderdale Broadway Series production!
Dirty Rotton Non Equty production.

Who knows if it was the first? or second or third?
It was a national production at the broadway series.

Well technically it is "Broadway" in a sense. I mean, I saw "The Music Man" first national tour and I remember it being technically pretty amazing. Like the set and stuff was great. Which is odd compared to like the crapiness of the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels non-eq tour.

and what was the big hoopla over "The Music Man"?

Cry-Baby is suppose to be Non-Eq too - if that ever happens.

Their. Its. Rotten. Equity.

Also, goldenboy, if you don't know whether or not the production you're complaining about was the first national tour, why are you adding it to a list of non-Equity first national tours? Wonderful though I'm sure the sunny town of Fort Lauderdale is, no one cares.

The 42nd Street revival tour.

The first leg of the 42nd Street revival tour was Equity. It was the first show to go out under the experimental touring contract (i.e. smaller salaries and per diems).

Didn't the Equity Dirty Rotten Scoundrels tour close and scale back? I don't remember what they scaled back, but I remember they did. Did they get rid of the turntable or something?

In the Non-Eq tour at least, they cut the Train set & Freddy meets Lawrence in the Lobby.

Damn... that sounds terrible.

It was originally a full scale tour, then it cut back. I saw the Equity version that was cut back, and it honestly wasn't THAT cut back. The only thing that truly sucked was the back wall, which on Broadway was so wonderful to look at, but on tour it looked as if the ocean part was made of aluminum foil.

Scoundrels first national was Equity, the second was non, & the third (current) is a scaled back Equity tour.

The first DRS tour was Equity. The second was put on by a regional theatre company, which, toured around the US/Canada.
