Shows with only one good song

Hey everybody. There are some shows that, for me, I don't really like any of the score, except for one song. Do any of you have that with a show?

For me, it's "Let There Be," from Children of Eden.

Schwartz is great for this thread -- I'm sure there's half a good song in Wicked somewhere

Children of Eden has TONS of good songs! wow...

my pick would be "Puttin On the Ritz" from Young Frankenstein.

The only song I like from Rent is "Seasons of Love." There are a few other okay ones, but I don't care for the score.

"Once Upon A Time" from Brooklyn. The song was so good they put it in the show 5 times!

Rent.

The only decent song is.....uh. Wait. Never mind.

Really? I think the score is the strongest part of ReNt.

"I Read" from PASSION
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Any show ALW wrote. One good song repeated and "disguised" by internal key changes over and over and over.

I think this applies to almost all of Andrew Lloyd Webber post Evita. Of course since he then uses the same song over and over and over again it makes the score sound much better that it really is.

Ok all you haters of Aspects of Love. I agree that he uses one musical phrase to death in that musical, but there are some other nice songs: "First Man You Remember" "Anything But Lonely" "Mermaid Song".
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Applause has some nice-ish songs, but Welcome to the Theatre is by far the gem of the score- an absolutely breathtaking song smack in the middle of a very so-so score.

"P.S.: The same usual Andrew Lloyd Webber bashing is kind of passé, if you ask me."

Everyone is practically bashing a musical in this post by saying they feel it only has one good song. It may not be considered "bashing", but it will still offend people. So why should doing the same about ALW's scores be any different?

I personally think that ALW's scores have gone downhill since Evita, but it must be passé to say so.

re: Shows with only one good song

I think "I'm Only Thinking of Him" is a better song from Man of La Mancha and if you don't think it's better you have to admit it's very good.

re: Shows with only one good song

I have to defend Man of La Mancha, It's All the Same, I'm only thinking of Him, Little Bird, Little Bird, To Each his Dulcinea, and Aldonza are all wonderful songs.
