I was with my friend and she asked me if there's anything on my iPod other than showtunes. She said "don't you have any rap or something?" as a joke I responded "sure" and started singing some of 96,000 from ITH. And it just got me thinking. what other shows have raps in them?
I can think of:
The Witch's rap in ITW
Tyrone's rap in Fame.
DREAMGIRLS.
JIMMY GOT SOUL. JIMMY GOT SOUL. JIMMY GOT, JIMMY GOT, JIMMY GOT SOUUUUUULLLL!!!!
I can't believe I'm saying this (because it was so awful), but Granny's rap in THE WEDDING SINGER.
Hahaahah. Granny's Rap- soo awful. Not even funny. Just awkward and lame.
Mary Laz does one or two in Sister Act!
I saw the incredible Q brothers do their Edinburgh show last year - Funk it Up About Nothin'. They've also done "bombitty of errors" - both were full rap shows, outstanding
INTO THE WOODS
Greens, greens and nothing but greens:
Parsley, peppers, cabbages and celery,
Asparagus and watercress and
Fiddleferns, lettuce-!
He said, "All right,"
But it wasn't, quite,
'Cause I caught him in the autumn
In my garden one night!
He was robbing me,
Raping me,
Rooting through my rutabaga,
Raiding my arugula and
Ripping up my rampion
(My champion! My favorite!)-
I should have laid a spell on him
Right there,
Could have changed him into stone
Or a dog or a chair...
But I let him have the rampion-
I'd lots to spare.
In return, however,
I said, "Fair is fair:
You can let me have the baby
That your wife will bear.
And we'll call it square."

There's a rap in 'Into The Woods'?!?!?! I'm kind of embarrassed to admit this, but I've really never sat down and listened to ITW. I think I am interested now...
"Striking 12" has one in the middle of the song "Say what?"
Someone help me out, because I'm not sure... But doesn't "In The Heights" have a rap or two?
In Legally Blonde, Grandmaster Chad raps during "What You Want." I guess the girls kinda rap in the middle of "Positive" as well.
There is some rapping in Altar Boyz, too.

Grandmaster Chad doesn't rap as much as he "toasts," a combination rap and singing popular in reggae and dance-hall music. Fun Fact: In the show's original reading, celebrity cameos and impersonations were written into the script and score, and Grandmaster Chad is actually a thinly-disguised replacement for early-2000s pop star Shaggy, famous for his toasting on songs like "It Wasn't Me" and "Angel."
Altar Boyz has a Miracle Rap.
there was an off broadway show at LCT3 called Clay. it was a 1 man show and it was basically him rapping his way through the show. not freestyle, and the story was kinda odd, but it was about him growing up. any hip hop fan who is into theater such as myself would have loved it.
Wonderland in Bare is a rap about drugs
"Someone help me out, because I'm not sure... But doesn't "In The Heights" have a rap or two?"
Or 50.
