"One Night In Bangkok" - CHESS
Not only the first rap song in a Broadway/West End musical, but the first rap song to hit #1 on the US pop single chart which cements its place in history. It may also have been the first #1 rap music video as well, but I'm not positive about that.

P.S. tazber- is RAPMASTER RONNIE a real show?! If it weren't for Swados's name I wouldn't believe it, but she's done things far more bizarre... or maybe that's the brilliance of your parody? IS it a parody? I'm intrigued!

Jordan's on a roll today. americanboy - pay him no mind.
Noise/Funk.
"Rock Island" and "Ya Got Trouble" from The Music Man
can we consider every time Rex Harrison "sings" in My Fair Lady a rap?
It's Time, the act II opener to Big.
In fact the song pokes fun of the fact that Billy is in fact rapping with him rapping this line.
"Look at me, nothings worse crap then a little, white Polish boy from Jersey talking rap."
There's a rap in "Starlight Express." Can't remember the name, but it may have just been called, "The Rap." The lyrics are truly dreadful.
AndAllThatJazz22,
Go rent or buy the video of Into The Woods now! It is the original cast and it is fabulous!
haha whizzer! I hate that rap in Starlight. It's the opening of Act II in the original London version I believe and it is indeed called "The Rap".

RAPMASTER RONNIE is indeed a real show. it ran Off-Broadway in the early 80's.
The idea from the show is really an off-shoot of Swados' "Doonesberry" musical. There was a Ronnie Reagan Rap sequence (not heard on the cast recoding) performed by Reathel Bean, who went on to play Reagan in Rapmaster Ronnie.

I dont really know, atleast of the top of my head any shows with rap but I wanna say something
"Pippin" I love the Valerie Cherish icon
Didn't Valerie have a rap about the monkey from I'M IT!?

Hmm I didn't realize there were so many musicals with raps in them. And here I thought In the Heights was the only trashy rap musical
