I actually would love to get this. I really did love the show. Would it be Broadway or the tour version?
Shrek The Musical (2013) DVD
Did they even film the tour version? If it is the Broadway one it's a shame that it will have "Donkey Pot Pie" instead of "Forever."
Looking forward to this. I prefer "Forever" over "Donkey Pot Pie", but I liked both of them. It was the OBC, I believe, that was filmed. At least we'll get that little "bonus". I saw the tour twice, but would love to see what the original production was like in comparison. Was it "better"?
I'd imagine it would be Donkey Pot Pie since the Broadway version was the only one filmed unless they did somehow film the tour or the London production. I actually like Donkey Pot Pie a lot but Forever is the better song. I also prefer the opening used on tour and in London rather than the Broadway one.
If it's legit and true, how exciting! But, it's weird that it's been releasing after all this time. Understandable though with the tour and stuff

I highly doubt they would release the Broadway production, especially since the latest two productions were so successful and the OB production...not so much. I would put my guesses on the 1st National Tour or West End production (hoping for the West End production!)
This is a stretch, but hopefully both...?
But they only filmed the B'way one. I was there (as I'm sure a few other posters were too).
^ But, they filmed the Broadway version. And the Broadway versions of other shows have been released.
I hope this is true. I did really enjoy it when I saw it.
I've only seen the broadway production. How drastic were the changes?
The dragon was redesigned for the tour and it was amazing to see!

Just because they filmed it though doesn't mean that's the version being released. I'm more than sure both the tour and London productions have been filmed as well. You can find several professionally shot videos of the 1st National Tour on YouTube.
^That's called B-roll footage.
With all due respect to fans of the show, I just wasnt that impressed with it. It felt, in many respects, like a Disney/Carnival Cruise version of the movie with slightly better production values. I dont know quite what it was, but it just felt a bit too slick for its own good: something of the movie's heart was lost in the transition, and that's kind of a shame, because it really is a fine piece of movie making.
If the DVD is stuck with that hideous Dragon after having the JOY to see that massive full bodied puppet on tour I am going to be very disappointed. Fingers Crossed that they filmed the London production!
Ah yes, the London production....With the horrible racist portrayal of Donkey and American Black people.

If this is indeed happening, they are probably going with the Original Broadway cast because Brian d'Arcy James, Sutton Foster, Christopher Seiber, John Tartaglia, and Daniel Breaker have TV and film experience.
Ask ANYBODY on the street who the hell they are and you'll get a blank face. They are nobodies. This DVD will sell on the name Shrek, not who's in it.

^ I thought 'Bunheads' was a hit. Brian also appeared on the first season of 'Smash' which had better ratings than the second season and he also did 'Game Change'. John was also the star of 'Johnny and the Sprites'. Seiber has also some roles in TV and film as well.
Did they not film in London? Typically, the copyright laws are easier to "get around" outside of the US, which is why so many pop and rock acts film their concerts overseas. I wouldn't be surprised if they filmed in London. Also, it would make since to film and release the version of the show that came after the OBC, as that would probably be the once they license, right?

She's on a hit show... on ABC Family... and I'll reiterate, they are NOBODIES.
^ That is from 2009.
It doesn't matter if they are nobodies. What matters is whether or not they had contractual arrangements to be recorded on video for sale.
If they filmed the Broadway production then I imagine that's what will be released.
