The new dragon is a KICK ASS big puppet with what looked like 4 or 5 puppeteers running around it. But they do a good job of hiding them. New song is serviceable but I've already forgotten the tune! That's not a good sign.
Big scene changes that I recall? The big stained glass window in the church is gone, and now its two flats resembling a cathedral outline. Worked well.
Man in the Mirror was gone completely (or if it was there, I've forgotten it lol...). The show really almost put me to sleep several times. So my memory is a bit foggy.
It was used for the entire 'Travel Song' and 'Who I'd Be' numbers along with many others! Does the hill type of thing still come up for who I'd be? I cannot wait until they release some press photos :)

What show did you see? I saw the show several times in New York and enjoyed it.
Saw the tour show on July 13th and 16th. I thought both shows were great and many laughs during the entire show. Cast was great, all 4 leads did a great job and had fantastic voices.
Not sure what you are talking about as all I heard was glowing complements from the people leaving the theater.

Nice you enjoyed it, Pops, but the critical reception was negative. The Times review (the only one that matters) couldn't have been worse.
My group all thought it was sad drivel. Not outstandingly bad, simply a lazy, pedestrian chop-and-drop adaptation of a better film - adding songs, but not transforming the piece into a real musical. The storytelling relied entirely upon the audience's prior familiarity with the film. Updated On: 7/20/10 at 01:22 PM
I only report what I saw and heard. Very few people seemed to really like the show the night I saw it. I even heard one little kid, when asked by a parent if he wanted a tee shirt, say "nah. the movie was way better."
A couple of tips for you 1. This thread is labeled "shrek TOUR" -tip off number one & 2. I was talking about the tour show I saw on 7/13/2010, not some stuff from last year ( boy, reading those scripts must be a challenge for you, good luck with the career)!
I liked it, the people around me liked it, and most of the people in the theater liked the show, including the kids. This show is fun and people loved it. They have done a lot of work with the tour, but I guess you never progress past one review. Thank god you never read the bad review the Beatles got.
I also read your opening line (posted twice): "What show did you see? I saw the show several times in New York and enjoyed it."
Here's a tip for you: save your witless snarkiness for an appropriate situation. Alexander Woollcott you ain't.
Tip #2: you may like the show, but it's a pedestrian piece of work, no matter how many kids and soccer moms you polled. Audiences stood up for Dance of the Vampires; it was still a piece of trash.
