Just released today on all digital platforms. I haven't heard it as of right now, but what are your initial thoughts? For those that got to see the movie and/or the Off-Broadway production, how does this compare?
I probably need to see it or watch the movie to understand it better but so far my biggest issue is the songs that fade out. I hate fade outs on Broadway cast albums. Other than that it’s a fun listen. Short too.

I really enjoyed Dream for You. I wish they had made Drive It Like You Stole It a bigger number as in the movie. I saw the NYTW production and just felt it lacked that big polished musical number the song is meant to shine as. Not sure what was possibly changed for the Broadway production in terms of set but the acoustics all sound the same as they did downtown. Overall I liked it though! Still on the fence about Zara Devlin’s vocals but her acting was great live.

Are there songs missing? I remember Zara being featured in two songs that I really loved and I feel like one of them isn’t here, but don’t have a song list from when I went to the second preview.
I saw it a bunch throughout its NYTW run, and really love the album. It sounds much more like an 80s album mix than a musical theatre recording, but I think that's a fair choice.
Here's what I'm noticing missing from the album -
> The two small "Rio Grande" covers from Act 1
> Zara's "Riddle of the Model/Rio Grande" reprise/song from Act 2, that precedes "Dream For You"
> Zara used to sing the second half of "To Find You", but on the album Brenneck sings the whole song
> The Lawlor parents singing a bit of "To Find You" at the very opening of Act 2
> "Faith of Our Fathers" was sung over/during "Dream For You" in the show, with the Mom as lead backup harmonies.
> "Just Can't Get Enough" is played as the instruments are tuning (for a joke), but on the album it's polished all the way through.
Happy to answer any other questions, but those are off the top of my head.

Thanks for the info! Yes! Those are exactly the two Zara things that I was most looking forward to hearing again! That’s a shame.

This should answer some questions about the changes to the show for Broadway. Personally, I’m not a fan of the changes, but I hope they prove me wrong.
Wait, so according to that article, there's another entirely new song written for the Broadway production that Raphina was supposed to sing, and yet they didn't include it on the album? How bizarre and disappointing!
I know nothing about this show, but I really like this cast recording!

They recorded the album the first week of January, likely before the song was even written. Most shows opt not to record before previews for this reason, but the album was originally set to drop the weekend of opening night which would've been a great marketing tactic (which is what Jagged Little Pill successfully did)

You mean, you don't love the bongo fade out of "You've Got Possibilities" from It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman?
