I'm watching the Broadway.com Show People with Derek and it has me super pumped about this show coming to Broadway. What's the latest? I haven't heard any buzz in a while.
Are there any open theatres?
By January? For sure.
Any chance Lincoln Center will rent out Vivian Beaumont? This super dance heavy show could use a stage like that!
When did it want to come in? Playbill still says "fall"...
Any chance they might take the Music Box? Just because I like the sound of that haha and because it will be available soon. It's mostly been a play-theater (which the recent exceptions of Pippin and Shuffle), does it have a pit? I didn't pay attention to that during Shuffle...

This would be perfect for the Broadway theatre... But miss Saigon will most likely be taking up residence there..
Is it set to come in by January?

Forgot all about this. Seemed like it was all ready to come in. And then nothing. Hough will dance the hell out of this. Couldn't get a read on his acting from the Radio City show.

The Music Box has hosted its fair share of musicals throughout its history, and was built by Iriving Berlin to house his "Music Box Revues." So unless it was removed in some renovation I would assume there is still a pit there.

If they have actual rain (which I'm sure they will!) then you wouldn't have a pit anyway. I saw the Melbourne production (a copy of the London one) a few weeks ago and my seat came with a free poncho...and I needed it!

isn't this production based on a new one that is going to premiere (or has it premiered?) in Paris? and that the rain would not be actual rain, but projections instead?
also, I wonder if AEA / unions over in NYC would allow actual water to be used due to potential dangers e.g. slipping/ falling etc, especially when dancing? I'm just asking this because I remember that POTO on Broadway, during the MOTN scene, the Christine "safety-falls" on the ground while in London, the Phantom always bends and catches Christine midfall - and the reason why the catch isn't done in NYC is because unions there wouldn't allow it due to concern for the actor playing the Phantom. so would the same logic apply to "actual rain" being used for SITR?
(yes, i am aware that Therese Raquin did use an actual body of water and actually used that to simulate a drowning scene)

They allowed rain in 1985.

possibly as I don't see KINKY BOOTS lasting into 2017. If JERSEY BOYS closes, it could also take the August Wilson.
To the op where did you find this show people episode? I can't find it anywhere on YouTube.

Would the stage be big enough? The Theatre du Chatlet is pretty big. Isn't the show relatively big?

On the subject of rain - both WOLF HALL and poor LEAP OF FAITH had full rain effects (although I believe WOLF HALL stopped them at some point early in the run). And the London production of this musical had a significant rain effect, both during the production and at the final curtain call.
110 in the Shade at the Roundabout also had quite a bit of rain in the finale.
