Also, if you don't and can't acknowledge other people's opinions, you shouldn't be handing yours out to everyone within ear-(or more appropriately eye)shot.

I'm a big Cheno fan. It's not her fault she was born small and pretty and had been sterotyped. I'm sure when given the chance she could do alot of diffrent roles.

on the topic of shoshana Bean, that girl does not belong on broadway. I hated her version of Elphaba. Sometimes she almost screams some of her notes. Fanny Brice she is NOT!

Shoshana Bean has publicly said in many places that she will not come back to Broadway unless it was in Funny Girl. There are not current productions of FUnny GIrls planned for Broadway, as far as I know. Certainly none with Bean (who would likely never be cast) attached.

the only thing that REALLY bugs me about shoshana is the way she says the ends of her words... i can't explain it really... but in defying gravity she would say "Defyeeeeeeeeeng graviteeeeeeeee" and from someone whose had a lot of professional voice training, it gets to you.

jess I totally agree with you about her vowls. She should know better the to strech horizontal on her eeee's then droping her jaw more down than horizontal. But hey, maybe she would be good on American Idol and Just leave broadway alone.

I really don't like that comment by Shoshana, that Funny Girl would be the only thing to bring her back. She is lucky enough to even have a job right now, especially as one of the biggest female roles on Broadway atm. There are so many others out there who could do the role just as well or better and it seems luck of the draw that she got the job. I mean she's good... but she's not AMAZING. She seems to look down her nose at Broadway during comments like this (and she has made others) and I think it's annoying, because she does not have what it takes to make it in the pop industry. I'm sorry, but she does not have the looks... she will never be the next Jennifer Lopez. American Idol is the only platform that could have helped her get to the top, and she's already disqualified bc of her record contract. I feel like she needs to snap out of her "holier than thou" attitude and realize that Broadway is the only place that is going to take her, and she's lucky for even that.

That was a b!tchy post, but it's the way I've felt for a while now.

Well said bella. I don't know how Broadway lovers can openly support and love a performer who has openly insulted Broadway so much. I wish her well in her R&B career. At least that music is easier to avoid, at least for me.

I know she wouldn't be eligable for American Idol. But if she was she would be on it for a while, and Simon would love her because she sucks like Fantasia. But other than that, I used to hear that she was a sweetie, and then all of a sudden I kept hearing these comments when she's saying snobby things about broadway and that she's starting to treat her fans like ****. I never really liked her since I heard a first clip of her singing. And I plan to never hear her sing again.

She WAS really nice at first. And now that she's found some security she appears to have turned into a total diva. I don't know, I can't judge bc I don't know her. But that is what I have observed.

Well fine, I'll be the first one here to say I'd think she'd be great!

I have seen Funny Girl MANY times, so don't respond with "do you even KNOW the show!" I've seen over 85+ Broadway shows, and I'll admit to being a Wicked fan, there's nothing wrong with that.

First off, she has the look. Second off, she is a BRILLIANT vocalist, and with an amazing musical director telling her to not riff (even though I'm obsessed with her riffs, TOTALLY wrong for funny girl), she'd sing the SH*T out of the role. I PERSONALLY think she is a VERY strong actress also, so therefore, I think she'd be wonderful in the role.

And also to clear up the many rumors floating around in this thread, she said in ONE place, not MANY places, that she would only come back to Broadway if it was Funny Girl and she didn't even phrase it like that.. she meant she wants to focus on her recording career, but if there was a Funny Girl revival, she'd DIE to do it and that would be a sure way to get her back.. not she'll ONLY come back to Broadway if its Funny Girl..

Benzy, I completly respect your oppinion and count it as valid.

But, I would, and most of the people who alreasy posted would disagree with the "Brillant Vocalist" idea. Technically far from broadway brilliant. I think good for R&B, but Broadway and Fanny not such a good idea. But hey if you like her, you like her.

She could DIE to play fanny, but Dying doesn't make it right,
Personally I think she should focus on her rocording career. Hey I wouldn't buy her CD, but I would be glad because she could say bye bye to broadway.

I think she has a good voice! The comments about Broadway may have been taken out of context... i can't see her biting off the hand that feeds her! I mean, she must realise that if her career doesn't work out she'll be fortunate to have a career on Broadway... and she aint gonna want to limit her performing opportunities surely? I hope they have been taken out of context because there are so many people out there who would do anything to be where she is!

Beergoggles, I, too, hope her comments were taken out of context. I'm still getting over my disappointment over Alice Ripley's comments last year and now this. And I'm not a fan of Shoshana, although I do like her rendition of Live out Loud.

Excuse me, but I think Kristin Chenoweth is a brilliant actress - and I think her characters have an expansive variety. The thing they all have in common is the same impeccable comic timing.

I personally think Shoshana is so boring as an actress, but why don't you guys think her voice is beautiful?

And she made those comments more than once on her Q&A. That she wants to work on her music career, and she would only come back for FUNNY GIRL.

The R&B industry, IS NOT EASY. Same for the POP world. She isn't going to turn into the next Mary J. Blige or Alicia Keys over night.

Where did she say all these things? Just curious. I don't like believing things unless I see proof. But even if she did say that, maybe her heart just isn't in Broadway anymore. Is it that big of a crime to want to record a CD and not do Broadway anymore? It's not like she's said that Broadway is crap, maybe she just doesn't want to do it anymore. And as far as Funny Girl being the only thing she would come back for, that's just her dream role of all time. I don't think she's saying, "I shall never do Broadway again because those people are pigs!" I think she's just done with it for now and trying to concentrate on other things.
