I think we're seeing a phenomenon that hasn't happened since the old Adam West Batman show from the 60's, where high profile performers all want to do a guest shot. Works for me ....

I'm honestly surprised we haven't encountered Rachel's parents. For two extreme stage dads, they seem strangely uninvolved with glee club. That seems like an easy place to cast two well-known actors.

But on the jokey,
Zoe Saldana's Avatar form will play a former McKinley student looking for a second chance,
Ricky Gervais will play McKinley's assistant principal,
Cher will play a school librarian,
Turtle from Entourage will play a new English teacher,
Mel Gibson will play a local Mormon minister,
Paul Reubens will play Emma's new boyfriend,
and Danny DeVito will play Quinn's baby.

That seems like an easy place to cast two well-known actors

Except for the fact we've seen their pictures. This could be ignored but their appearances have already been established.

Burke's Law, CHiPs, and Muppet Show.

Though when I think of Love Boat I mostly think of people who are at the beginning or the tail end of their careers. Like Robert Urich. He was on the show during and after the 11 episode series Tabitha but before he was on Spenser for Hire.

ETA: Does anyone remember those made for tv movies in the 80's where they'd take the "hot" kids from various sitcoms? Crash Course, Dance 'til Dawn, Dream Date?
