So whats the Mega Musical touring next year

Every year they seems to one big show out on tour but apparently something BIG is about to take to the road for 2010 but everyone is staying tight lipped about what it is....i know its going to the Manchester Palace, Birmingham Hippodrome, and up to Scotland but thats all i know

Any ideas

Well i'd say Les Mis is the big tour next year.

Isn't Spamalot rumoured to be touring?

Billy Elliot? Shrek, on a pre-London tour? The previously announced Les Mis tour with more stops?

'Spamalot' goes out next September but its doing a long tour with 2 weeks in each city.
Is 'Spamalot' classified as a meg musical? Im not too sure, as big as it is!
SADM2 has to define BIG!

Oh Mamma that sounded a bit naughty (Define big indeed)

Big in the sense that its another (Rumored) 3 to 5 month run at the Palace and a good few months in every other venue.

Spamalot is as Mamma says just doing a few weeks everywhere as is Les Mis.
I know Hairspray is looking at a tour as they have been looking at venues but thats not it either as its looking to do 3 or 4 weeks in each.

Right, well shows that do dates that long are USUALLY family shows, so maybe it could be something like Billy Elliot!

No, dirty dancing wouldnt be able to fill that many shows on tour!
Maybe Thriller live will go off on a world tour, but we will get a separate tour just for us that will take over the country!

Could Billy manage several months at Manchester/Birmingham and continue in London though?

I know the International tour of Mamma Mia has sold extremely well for it's run in Newcastle this December, could it be a different tour of Mamma Mia?

We have already had a 3 month run of Mamma Mia a few years back, i cant see it coming again

We were thinking Phantom (though i have a feeling that would go to our sister theatre The Opera House as its played there before), Lion King was going to tour a year or so back and again was looking at the Opera House because of space in the audience to get those bloody animals through.

We are thinking Wicked??

I REALLY dont think it could, at the moment it is playing a theatre that holds just over a thousand, is selling steadily, but not AMAZING sales, especially mid-week, and there are ALWAYS ticket offers on, I do not think it could sell 3 months in each venue, when the venues hold 2000+

Have to say im with Con, im not convinced Dirty Dancing could last 5 months somewhere. Its possible but not a dead cert, same with Wicked.

The one show we are asked about at the Palace on a daily basis as to if its touring is Dirty Dancing (sometimes Billy but 9/10 DD), i think Dirty Dancing could do a 3 month stretch easy.

It 'll be DIRTY DANCING. Now that there is a touring set design* for BILLY ELLIOT it can't be far from touring.

* Designed for the U.S. First National Tour and purchased for the Asia/Australian tour in 2010.

Speaking to Des Barritt ( a friend of mine for over 30 years) a few months ago when he was in the show, he said that it wouldn't tour in the forseeable future and they hadnt even contemplated it as yet.
They are just gonna keep it as a special London run.
Of course it will tour but not till it closes in London or nearer the end if its run.
