At the Ballet (ACL)
What I Did for Love (ACL)
One (ACL)
A Little Fall of Rain (Les Mis)
Sunday (SITPWG)
Around the World (GG)
Your Daddy's Son (Ragtime)
Wheels of a Dream (Ragtime)

and when performed in regional theatres, I cry everytime during the finale in Ragtime when there's that little piano playing a ragtime tune, then the ensemble sings "On the wheels of a dream!"

Mine:

Goodbye Until Tomorrow, Last 5 Years
If I Didn't Believe In You, Last 5 Years
For Good, Wicked
Alive, Company
I made a list of all your faults, it was quite detailed and lengthy too and when I read it through I missed you. Your like a classic Eagles song, you just cant help but sing along even though it sometimes gets annoying too. I just know I want to be wherever I can wake and see you there next to me. **High Fidelity** Love is what I do **The Wedding Singer** Xanadu - Best NEW Musical of the Season!

It Never Was You- LoveMusik ( I know it was originally from Knickerbocker Holiday, but LoveMusik was the first time I heard it)
Days Of Plenty- Little Women (That song is heartbreaking, and expresses a sense of grief I cannot even begin to imagine.)

Non-musical: The song that has made me bawl everytime since I was five, "Puff the Magic Dragon."

"I wouldn't let Esparza's Bobby take my kids to the zoo...I'd be afraid he'd steal their ice cream and laugh."- YankeeFan
"People who like Sondheim enjoy cruelty."-LuvtheEmcee

For Good--Wicked

Being Alive--Company (Raul's version)

You Walk With Me--The Full Monty

Left Behind & Those You've Known (Spring Awakening--I want them played at my funeral--if I have one)

Another Winter in a Summer Town (Grey Gardens)

I'll Cover You (reprise) & No Day But Today (Rent)

There have to be more, but I'd have to dig through my Playbills to dig through my memories.

Maybe not every single time I've heard them, but lots:

You Walk With Me (FULL MONTY)
The I Love You Song (25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE)
How Glory Goes (FLOYD COLLINS)
If He Walked Into My Life (MAME)
Father To Son (FALSETTOS)
What More Can I Say (FALSETTOS)
What Would I Do? (FALSETTOS)

Getting weepy just thinking about some of these songs! Also - I never realized how many Bill Finn songs make me weepy!

Honorable mention:
My Brother Lived in San Francisco (not sure if it's from a show)
Your Daddy's Son (RAGTIME)

"The Old Red Hills of Home", "Leo's Statement: It's Hard to Speak My Heart", and "All The Wasted Time" from Parade.

Can't honestly say they make me cry, but i'll be damned if they don't give me chills every single time I listen to them.

Hmm. So many to pick from...

Five and a Half Minutes & His Arms
(both from The Woman Upstairs by Lowdermilk & Kerrigan)
Lot's Wife - Caroline, or Change
See Me/Warning and all of the songs from Queen Mab until the end (No Voice) - bare: a pop opera
Petrified - Taboo
Way Back to Then - [title of show]
How Glory Goes - Floyd Collins

There's also something about People Like Us from LaChiusa's The Wild Party that puts a knot in my throat. One of my favs.

Just my $.02

There are some people in the world who say that writing stories, or composing music or dancing sparkly dances is easy for them. Nothing interferes with their ability to create. While I celebrate their creative freedom, a little part of me just wants to punch those motherf*ckers in the teeth...[tos]

re: Songs That Make You Cry No Matter How Many Times You Listen to them....

It's incredibly rare for me to cry while simply listening to a recording in my room, car, or wherever else. There is one song that brings me to tears every time I listen to it, and that's Judy Garland's "You'll Never Walk Alone". She made two recordings of it, one in the early 40's and another in the late 50's/early 60's. The latter version always turns me into an emotional basketcase.

Also, I've cried every time I have seen Rose's Turn performed live.
There wouldn't be lights bright enough!

I agree 110% and add to that "We're Off to See the World" from the Chipmunks Great Adventure

re: Songs That Make You Cry No Matter How Many Times You Listen to them....

"Some Things Are Meant to Be" - Little Women
"Home" - The Wiz
"You'll Be in My Heart" - Tarzan (yes, I admit it)

and, obviously,
"For Good" - Wicked

I just moved away from North Carolina, my home of four years. My best friend there and I (who share a love for Wicked) kind of unofficially dubbed "For Good" as "our song", so whenever I hear it or sing it, I start bawling. My four years in NC were the best years of my life, so that's also why "Home" gets me teary-eyed.

Love ya, Lex!!

re: Songs That Make You Cry No Matter How Many Times You Listen to them....

I forgot "Saying Goodbye" from The Muppets Take Manhattan. It so upset me as a kid that one time when I was watching it, my mom thought I had injured myself, I was crying so hard.

I watched it on YouTube a while ago to see if I could get through it. I was a mess by 15 seconds in...
