"The Rainbow Connection" -The Muppet Movie
"All I Ask of You (reprise)" -The Phantom of the Opera
"Circle of Life" -The Lion King

and if I'm feeling really emo... "Little Lamb" -Gypsy
Given the recent passing of Natasha Richardson, Cabaret has made me tear up now. I just can't listen to the song the same way again.
Bwaygal Im compltly with you on Cabaret. I had to listen to it all night last night for some closure. When she said "When I go I'm Goin like Elsie into Start By Admitting from Cradle to Tomb" I got so choked up I cant describe it. That song has forever been changed for me.
I'll Cover You (Reprise)
Gets me every single time.
I know they're not musical theatre numbers but what the heck. For anyone who likes a good sob over a song I recommend "Lullaby In Blue" by Bette Midler (from the "Bathhouse Betty" album) and the title track from Take That's "The Circus" album. (Do we still call them albums even? I remember vinyl!)
For me recently it is "Hang the Moon" Bombshell

Some of the songs I hear listed make me realize the people hear have never felt any real emotion. Crying to Wicked... really???
that being said, the people listing Sondheim get a thumbs up.
Nice judgement.

As far as crying to Wicked-Listen to the words to "For Good." The message can easily be taken out of the context of the show. For me, the first time I saw the show on Broadway, it was shortly after someone I knew had died. The song made me think about what that person meant to me in my life. So, yes, even songs from Wicked can make you cry with real emotion.

Because you're the one to decide how other people should feel?

I've cried every time I've listened to stay with me from Into the Woods. I don't know why.
Others tear jerkers for me include Will You and Another Winter in a Summer Town from Grey Gardens along with When there's
No One from Carrie and Eva's Final Broadcast from Evita.

Shocker! People respond differently to different things.
I'm pretty sure no one here is in a position to be judging the "realness" of other people's experiences or emotional responses.

Oh, I'll be just fine with getting all judgy about TheHappyPhantom right now. Obviously, they have never experienced true happiness or joy and are probably so highly judgmental from being a virgin for so very long. I can instantly know all this to be true from they way they answer one question. And I feel sublimely superior.
What More Can I Say? (Falsettos). This video always makes me cry.
