The Broadway.com article got me interested. I love the cast, and the creative team. The premise of the story seems interesting. Has anyone heard the material and have any opinions?
I really hope they come up with another title.
I am so thrilled that Judy Kaye is going to originate a new Broadway role- and with Victoria Clark too! This is a diva-lover's dream come true! Fairy Godmothers unite!
There is absolutely zero way this finds commercial success unless its title is made pronounceable for mass audiences.

If this is planning a commercial Broadway run, the title must be changed.
Thanks for the heads-up! I live in Toronto and hadn't heard of this through any local advertising. I will definitely plan to go and check it out!
I remember the movie and thought it was just OK. As far as the title goes, I think once you hear it spoken, it's pretty pronounceable...
i haven't heard it spoken, how do you pronounce it?
Something like: Soo-Zatz-Ka
yeah the tourists will not be able to say that

not sure why they would change the name. This musical is based on the novel "Madame Sousatzka" which was made into a film in 1988 starring Shirley Maclaine as Sousatzka. Maclaine won a Golden Globe Award and Jessica Tandy was nominated for the BAFTA Awards for her role as Lady Emily. The title reminds me of "The Madwoman of Chaillot "

I would also imagine they'd have some trouble attracting investments unless they ditch Garth Drabinsky. He was indicted for fraud and cant legally travel to the US
^Um, he's the whole reason this is happening, and why it has attracted all that talent.

Maybe the tourists need to make an effort. Why must everything be over simplified or dumb'd down to appeal to the masses.
It really isn't all that hard to pronounce at all. It's the spelling of the word that intimidates people from even trying.

Cool. Let me know when send in your check, then
Does anyone know how to contact Garth Drabinsky?
Rebecca Eichenberger (current Bway Madame Giry) will be Clark's standby (according to her interview on Live@5 today).

Still desperately needs a name change!
Does anyone have any idea how long this run is? I enjoyed those clips and I'd like to see it before it either transfers or disappears forever.
I hope Judy Kaye has a lot of stage time in this. She's far too talented to play any sort of cameo role.
In a cast of 47, doesn't everyone just get a cameo!?
Also the name really isn't that bad. If people were able to figure out a way to pronounce Les Miserables for the last thirty or so years, they can figure out how to say Sousatzka.
