Just wondering, do the numbers that each speller wear have any significance? Or were they just random?

I think they're completely random. I'm angry that I forget which number I was. Good memory, down the drain.
Same! I can't remember my number either! I remembered everything else from the show except that. I guess it is becuase we never really look at it - everyone else does. Oh well...
The only one that actually factors into a lyric is Marcy's.
Logainne being #1 might have some significance with her being raised as a "perfect" leader.
And maybe William Barfee being #13 factors into his whole personality, but I'm just reaching here.

The number the audience of wearing helps the actors know where the audience spellers sit.

I can;t remember my number either! I wish I did lol
The audience numbers are 2, 3, 4, and 28. (I think)
The cast know where on the bleachers to put the volunteers based on their number.

qwerty-
What do you mean exactly?
What Liotte said.
#4 sits between Leaf and Chip
#3 and.... #28? sit beside Marcy.
#2 sits in the front row with Logainne.
Numbers might not be right, but you get what I mean.

Liotte and qwerty are right, I think. I sat between Leaf and Chip (best seat you can get, I swear... I was so stoked), and I think I was #4. I know I was one digit, at least, if that helps to validate the claim.
