Yup, I got it! I really don't like how Bono is singing along during Picture This and Rise Above. I want a real cast recording, not this "music from" stuff. I am pretty disappointed with the recording they did of Rise Above. I wish it was just T.V. Carpio and Reeve Carney singing. I don't get why Mary Jane needs to sing at the end, it takes away from the song. And what's up with not recording There Was a Girl and Behold and Wonder? Overall, I'm not too thrilled. Guess I will just have to stick with my unofficial recordings until a real cast recording comes out.
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
I think a better question would be WHY did you get this recording. Bono's music is perhaps one of the worst scores written for Broadway. If they changed anything they should have changed the score.
I didn't have high hopes for this recording, after seeing 1.0 there was really only 1 song that I could remember any lyrics or tune to (Boy Falls From the Sky...), but I have to say, I really enjoy the album...I would be happier without Bono singing on it, and putting the songs in the right order adds to it, too. But yeah, count me in the camp of people who enjoy it...wish they would release an actual cast recording though.
I am liking the album more then I thought I would. I saw the show twice, once in December and then again in May. Both times the alternate, M.J Thomas, played Peter Parker so I never go to see Carney as Parker. Listening to the album I hear how why Bono picked him to play Parker, his voice is similar to his. I like U2, but find, their music sounds best sung by them.
