The gift shop has been rearranged! The cash register is now located at the back of the shop. The lighting is brighter too. Unfortunately the only new item is a summer weight hoodie as pointed out by the cashier. So not much new so far.
Maybe we should wait for the curtain to go up first?
I figured reports would be posted in the thread that has already been going.

SpiderMan has finally arrived! This time they got it right. The music is there and the characters have a story now. Interested to see act 2!

1010 wins news was outside interviewing peoplE at intermission. Young guy said he liked the original much better.
Only complaints I might have are minor. They still have the bouncing off the bedroom walls scene...always thought it was weird. Also when multiple Spidermans keep entering from different locations there was a minor timing issue because there were two Spidermans on stage at the same time. With these two minor things I think the show has a chance this time. Really happy fir them.

Curtain down and no glitches! This is what an expensive Broadway musical should look like.
I was very happy to see that the villains even got developed...how they were created, etc. Still required some suspension if disbelief if the Green Goblin created tem through genetic mutations. So what DNA has tons of chrome to create Swiss Miss? Lol that's fine though. Villains worked much better.
Love how they were able to weave Arachnea into the plot for Spiderman as his consciousness since she did bite him in the lab.
With only the previous bedroom scene which I said I didn't like I would have to say I went from hating the original creation to loving this reincarnation. I am very happy for the cast, crew and production team.
I'm glad to read that this version was better! What is the opening number like? Also what is the act 1 finale
^
Who sings "Freak Like Me" and "I Just Can't Walk Away"?
Thanks Brian for your report. I'm glad that you feel the show has truly improved. The toughest thing now for the producers is to get back the tremendous interest and momentum they had back in November/December. It's gonna take lots of strong word-of-mouth from audiences and strong reviews to keep this juggernaut afloat.

Act one was still the group of women flying on orange cloth. Think there was a minor glitch and one of the girls stopped her momentum because I know from first viewing months ago that cloth flew up to create a vision of weaving. Only one flew up and the women kept swinging back and forth.
Act one concluded without a "wow" factor... It was more of a to be concluded moment that wasn't impressive and actually forgettable. The previous version act one end is now the finale of the show.
In a very corny way Act two has a funny come look at the freaks opening number for the villains but all I could think of was that tourists will love the double joke that NYC is full of freaks.
I know some mention that they think Arachnea could be eliminated but I disagree. She was the spirit inside Spiderman. She was the voice that encouraged him to continue on when he was ready to give up.

From the reports, I gather that it's gone from spectacular failure to mediocre success...what's the fun in that?

Leefowler... Yes it was an absolute disaster. This isn't going to be one of my all time favorite shows in the 20 plus years of attending Broadway shows. I am giving them credit for turning lead into gold. The show has the potential to be a box office hit now where as before it was attended for potentially being a train wreck waiting to regularly crash. For me... The fun is in seeing a creative team work the mess into something viewable, enjoyable for many and with the potential to draw a full house to earn money. The show now has that potential.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I could list a few shows that I absolutely loath beyond description that were incredibly successful.

From a friend who was there tonight: Michael Riedel gave a standing ovation at the end of the show. Take that as you will.
Just got back--- Let me preface by saying that I did not see
"1.0" (thank goodness!)
Positves--- It was nice listening to the piped in "U2" music while I was in the bathroom---
The train station is right on the corner---
Cant find anything else- I totally realize there will be an audience for this show, and it will probably find a nice following. Personally, however, its one of the worst shows I have ever seen-
The book is a mess-- the score is totally forgettable (with the exception of possibly "The Boy Falls From the Sky"-- (or a "Freak Like Me" (only because its totally cheesy!)
Thank you, TDF !!!
A mate of mine who lives in New Jersey went to the show tonight and thought it was far better than the original version (he though the original was a mess but had something). He said the book makes daf more sense and the songs seem to flow better with the story.

Sunday --
Michael ONLY stood up because he couldn't see the cast at the curtain call.
I sat with him...
he feels for the performers....and this wreck of a show they are enduring.
They did perform their hearts out...they cheered gleefully with 10 minutes of chants behind the curtain as everyone left the theatre.....
But Michael did not spring to applaud at the Standing O-
he simply wanted to get a better view.
Same with me. and everyone in my section.
it was obligatory-----not heartfelt.

"Better" = gold? I would think gold would imply a fabulous show -- or at least a great show. Most of what I'm hearing (and I have no opinion on the new version) implies more 'lead' into 'copper'. Better, but still not all that valuable.
I saw it as well... it was better, but you can only do so much with such crappy material. The effects are still great, but that's all it has going for it.

Was there any change in the run time or is it the same at 2 hr 45 min? Thanks
I saw on Saturday, for the second 'new" preview. I hadn't seen it before. We were just going for the curiosity/train wreck factor.
It wasn't a train wreck. It was a fun show. I think they've ended up with exactly what it should be: a pop, bubblegum, family friendly, exciting comic book musical.
I expected to hate it. I liked it, a lot. Jennifer Damaino was stellar. The stunts were amazing. The audience was supportive, gave long, LOUD standing ovation, and you could see as curtain went down the cast jumping up and down, excited about the response.
oops..double post
"it was obligatory-----not heartfelt"
Is that MOST standing ovations?
Saturday nights ovation was heartfelt, quite obviously.
