Hey all!
For Spotify and Apple music users our year end wraps have started coming out. I thought it might be fun to see what broadway/theatre music people are listening to!
My 4 most played genres were Broadway, West End, Showtunes and Vintage Broadway (it makes me laugh how many categories they are able to come up with)
My most played artist of year was Victoria Clarke (thanks Kimberly cast recording), the London cast of Cabaret was my 3rd most played, and my 5th most played artists of the year were David Byrne and Fatboy Slim (RIP Here Lies Love..I will never forget you). Shoutout Renee Rapp and Olivia Rodrigo for the other two slots.
Surprisingly though, the only theatre song in my top 5 most played songs was Great Adventure.
How about y'all?!

KPOP, Kimberly Akimbo, and Here Lies Love were among my top albums this year. The heart wants what it wants. 😂

Why don't people wait til the end of the year to do these? (NOT being b!tchy; just always curious why best/most played lists -- including by regular people, publications, etc. -- don't include all 12 months)

I don't know why either. This is just when Spotify gives it to us. I wish it came at the end of the year, or even very beginning of next.

I feel like it’s especially early this year. I wonder if they’re banking on people just listening to holiday music during December? But still, that should count too.

Yep. Seems like if you release music from about mid-Nov thru the end of the year, you ain't ever gonna rank.

"Spotify Wrapped" only exists to serve as a promotional tool for Spotify. I guess it comes out now to corner the holiday market. It certainly does the job for them in getting attention, as this thread proves. Not just here, but everywhere. Sad.

You really are such a bummer when it comes to everything. Like you're correct but GOD.

I'm sorry. I don't mean to ruin it for you. I understand the fun of it, it's just that everytime somebody subscribes to Spotify a songwriter loses their wings.

Honestly....you kinda ate me up with that one. It is horrible for artists albeit convenient for a broke 20something.
