It would be pretty awkward if Lea Michele or Jonathan Groff missed a show.

here's a clarification guys.
#1 there are no primary understudies for any of the roles except for the adults who only have one cover each. for the kids there is no thing as first cover and second cover. it is at the discretion of the producers and stage management as to who goes on to cover what role.
#2 groff, lea and gallagher have as of yet not missed any performances.
#3 gallagher's covers are gerard cononico and brian johnson
#4 lea's covers are krysta rodriguez and phoebe strohle
#5 lauren's (ilse) covers are krysta rodriguez and phoebe strohle
#6 groff's cover is robbie hager and one TBA
#7 all of the other men in the ensemble are covered by robbie and gerard
#8 all of the other women in the ensemble are covered by krysta and jen damiano
#9 i have never heard of ny sort of "nudity" clause in lea's contract. the show is frozen and must be performed as is eaqch night without differentiation.

i hope that this clears up some confusion.

I actually heard from someone who "works" at the theatre that one night about a month ago Lea got very ill and ran off stage after Mama Who Bore Me and that Krysta was seen running after her and changing into Wendla's costume. He was backstage during this and saw all the commotion from there and was under the impression that Krysta finished out the show in place of Lea.

Hey...there was no bubble bursting...I'm merely sharing information which, as is nearly everything on here, hearsay. I do however have 100% trust in the person who witnessed this, but that certainly doesn't mean that I expect EVERYONE to believe something they read on an online message board. I guess if anyone really wants to know they can simply ask next time they are at stage door...or just take YOUR word for it.

MY WORD IS GOD!!!
no, i'm just kidding, really.
but i do happen to know this for a fact.
lea ran off stage after the opening number because she swallowed wrong and was choking. she coughed into a garbage can and then went back and finished the show. it was never as dramatic as to require a costume change or anything. the whole incident was about two minutes.

Wouldn't it have been easier for you to just "clarify" this before your last two posts?

I would also like to see Frances Mercanti-Anthony as the adult woman. I hear she was in the ensemble recently...

stagegrrrl, seeing as you know quite a bit about SPRING AWAKENING, I'm curious as to whether or not you're involved, and just to what extent. As you can tell by previous posts, I am a HUGE 'supporter' of the show for many a reason (almost to the point that people have questioned if I'm somehow involved). I was wondering where you stood. re: Spring Awakening Understudies

Best,
- Michael

If something huge like that happened everybody would hear about it.

Trina, I don't think Lea Michelle would have any sort of clause stating she didn't have to do the nudity all the time. Why would she be okay with doing it at some performances and not others? That doesn't make much sense.

I don't think that clause with Lea is right. Why would she not do the nudity? What would cause her to decide randomly at a performance to not do it?

#9 i have never heard of ny sort of "nudity" clause in lea's contract.

Ok experts, I heard this from someone who worked on the show for one of the producers. So maybe it's wrong, but the source seemed pretty reliable.

Ok, as far as u/s-es go, I know Ernst and Georg have been out and I THINK Hanshen has been out as well. For the females, Remy missed a show, Krysta has gone on as Ilse, and Pheobe went on as Ilse with Jen covering Anna.

About the nudity clause, I'm not sure I believe it 100% but when reading the interview BWW had with Lea, she mentioned she didn't mind the nudity because she was comfortable with Johnathan. Maybe she isn't as comfortable with an understudy feeling her up.

I believe that Jenn has gone on as Martha when Lilly was on crutches.

stagegrrl must be Frances.

btw, i think Wedekind represents a mix between Moritz and Melchior. i must have seemed like a real douchebag asking those questions.

LimelightMike, I could've sworn you were a part of the show from reading your posts! I thought perhaps you were a stagehand or something.
